Can someone with access to the DB or knowledge regarding the subject tell me what the years of production were for this box? Or how to interpret the date code? Also any other information, service manual, etc? Here are a couple pics to sweeten the deal.

some have the date codes inside the battery compartment and or stamped on the inside of the case.

TRUE! And I love the quality. This big aluminium knobs for example. No plastic with chrome paint, real metal. They feel very nice: heavy and precise.

Thanks for the verified info TPR! When I crack the case I'll see if I can find a sticker with the exact birth date of mine. I concur with all the other posters so far, this box is very well built and sounds nice. However, DRMZ, mine does have chrome-plated plastic knobs and trim.

Yes, you´re right. Its the 980 and 850 who came with the nice aluminium knobs. It´s a shame that the 980 doesn´t have them. But its a nice looking radio anyways.
