Panny bi-amps ??

redbenjoe - 2009-04-08 21:36

anybody here have a few of these various bi-amp models ??
asking because i had assumed that all the bi-amps were about the same great sound quality --
and that the several models - differed in only features.

but here is a bi-amp #690 -- with an 'extra' bass port ??? in the speaker --
is that , then an even better sounding model?

Yup,I had one of those Ira. It sounds pretty good, not much different than say a RX-DT680 though.

from what I understand, the 690is rated at 90 watts and the 680 is at 57watts. But some on here say the 680 has more bass. I've never heard a 690 so can't confirm it. But worth noting is that the 690's lowest EQ freq. adjuster is 330 hz, whereas the 680's is 100hz. Both have S-xbs adjusments, so I would assume that the S-xbs in the 690 is designed to compensate more of the 100hz range, while the 680's compensate for a freq. lower than 100hz. If this is true then I would also assume that the 680 hits deeper and thus has more bass.
I've noticed that the more I play my 680 the better it sounds, suggesting that it's better to play it than to let it sit unused. Because of this, it may not be a bad idea (as someone on here recommended before) to have it recapped. Because when my 680 is at its best, it has more bass and hits deeper than a JVC Kaboom.

Damn! That's a powerful statement since the Kaboom is considered one of the most potent bass boxes (okay maybe tube) ever made.

I can't stand the hype any more, I have to get a 680.

I personally prefer the over-all sound quality of the Panny's Vs the Kaboom...and having owned several of each models...i can honestly say that the JVC RV-B90 was my BEST bass machine in my collection...my B-90 was the best of all of my Kabooms in bass that's for sure.

Can someone on here who owns both the Kaboom and the Dt680 do a video comparing the bass on both of them? Thanks in advance!

If not a video then at least a few stills.

anyone who has the kaboom, how well does this unit produce the lowest note in the hip hop song "I put on" by Kanya West?
Because when that low note comes thru the dt680, it moves my speakers like mad. But for me to really appreciate what this unit is doing, I place the bbx downstairs in the living room, and go upstairs in the bathroom, and believe it or not that low frequency can be heard.

Here is the Biamps I had.

panabox - 2009-04-16 09:55

Nice! DO they all sound the same? Which is the bassiest?

skippy1969 - 2009-04-16 14:33

Panabox,I think that the RX-DT675 (the top one) sounds the best (IMHO). Nod Yes
