jvc.floyd - 2009-01-14 02:11

http://cgi.ebay.com/JVC-PC-3-BOOMBOX_W0QQitemZ270329281...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

anybody ever seen this jvc before?

jvc.floyd - 2009-01-14 05:37

i know what a standard pc 3 looks like buy ive never seen this model before.

peter.griffin - 2009-01-14 05:41

wow, pretty rare. never seen one before. already at 299, wow.

ford93 - 2009-01-14 05:48

First time seeing this model.

jvc.floyd - 2009-01-14 06:09

it would appear that this jvc has bass and treble controls or you can switch over to the eq as well ,now thats wicked!plus it has very bad a$$ speakers i don't think i've seen on any other jvc model plus its taller than the pc 55 but consumes more power at 93 watts power consumption than the pc 55 which consumes 87 watts ,all i know is i want one of these .

peter.griffin - 2009-01-14 06:24

strange that the only bidder has 0 feedback, and it's already at 299.

jvc.floyd - 2009-01-14 06:28

it might be shill bidding ,but i dont think they need to go through all that if he just set a reserve or buy it now price ,most likely one of these units will not pop up again anytime soon so maybe he's trying to insure he gets a good price ,just going about it the wrong way if that is the case.

oldskool69 - 2009-01-14 16:10

This is the rare EQ option and the speakers were typically available as an option on the PC-5. Didn't know you could get them on the PC-3. Smile

True.Even if they were rare, they were mass produced to some extent so I'm sure more will eventually surface.Personally though when I see something particularly rare on Ebay with high early bids,I just shake my head and think "not a chance".However I may bookmark it just to see how high it will go.

jlf - 2009-01-14 19:46

Especially with low or no feedback. That is a risk.

Im amazed at the oddities that pop up from time to time... they get the bids! I mean, Ive been a bbx student for some time now, and yet there are all these little groups of collectors all over just waiting to bid up something Ive never even seen before!

i don't know for sure if the pc 5 has tweeters or not ,i don't think it does ,this pc 3 looks to be taller than the pc 3/pc5/pc55/pc11 because of the extra component eq in the stack so naturally the speakers would have to be taller as well ,either way i think this rare pc3 totally kicks arse ,i like boxes that have a volume knob instead of sliders but it also has an eq which is a great combo to me.

71spud - 2009-01-19 12:05

Well that went for a bit of change huh? Leaving

BTW it was not a PC-3.... it was a PC-6. Odd thing about the PC-6 is that it uses the EXACT deck and tuner of the PC-3 and adds the EQ in the middle making it taller. The speakers are just over 10" tall and are made just like my RB-95K speakers, just smaller... half way inbetween the 1-way PC-5 and 2-way RB-95K accessory speakers. (I can post exact dimensions if anyone wants)

I will post pictures of it next to a PC-3, PC-5 and the RB-95K speakers when it arrives.... Wink

redbenjoe - 2009-01-19 12:15

thats an extra unique set , spud --
plus - it might be your final JVC 'collection completer' Smile

jvc.floyd - 2009-01-19 12:28

damn that jvc sold for $821.11 ,all i can say is it might be a while till one of those boxes shows up again or maybe not if they can get that kind of money they might start popping up like crab grass now lol.

71spud - 2009-01-19 12:34

That's right... I tried to do everyone a service by bringing more of these out in the open. Nod Yes Laugh Out Loud

The thing is now everyone will start listing their PC-3's and then wonder why they won't sell for over $150... Leaving

peter.griffin - 2009-01-19 12:36

wow, wonder if it was someone from the forum?

71spud - 2009-01-19 12:48

It was me that bought it if that is what you are wondering....

peter.griffin - 2009-01-19 12:57

Hey did you reveice this unit yet? wondering how it sounded?

arkay - 2009-02-16 05:25

Congratulations, Spud!

Definitely a rare box!

71spud - 2009-03-11 07:06

An update..... I still have not received this box. A long story.... I would not recommend dealing with this seller EVER, EVER, EVER..... He did everything he could to discourage this transaction from happening. I don't know how much of it was the truth. When it is all done I will probably post the entire story.

But 24 hours after letting him know I was coming to California to pick it up if he didn't either refund my money or get me a tracking number in 48 hours he shipped it out. I now am the proud owner of a USPS tracking number. Yippee, skippee.....

We will see what shows up.... it damn well better be the box in the auction and not a generic PC-3. I have a feeling that PayPal will become involved if history is a guide.... Tap Toes

skippy1969 - 2009-03-11 08:55

MAN that really sucks Spud....... Mad
I hope it works out for you. Roll Eyes

71spud - 2009-03-11 09:07

Thanks Skippy.... according the USPS site they estimate 2 days shipping, so "something" should arrive tomorrow. However I know better than to trust the USPS.... so I would guess on or before Saturday is reasonable.

BTW I went over packing instructions about 8-10 times with this guy. Any guesses as to if any/all of my instructions were followed? Roll Eyes

- 2009-03-11 09:16

Eek That's a big pricetag!

The next few days will be a real nail biter for 71spud...hopefully it will have a happy ending Big Grin

isolator42 - 2009-03-11 14:32

oh, I hope I'm wrong, but I have a bad feeling about this one...

71spud - 2009-03-11 14:41

I too have had a bad feeling.... for almost 2 months now... but I was willing to roll the dice and stick with it for this rare JVC. I still have the ability to make a PayPal claim.

I will let you guys know the day it arrives and exactly what I find when I open the box.....

skippy1969 - 2009-03-11 14:43

I'm excited and scared at the same time to what you might get........ Tap Toes Roll Eyes

jameswp67 - 2009-03-11 16:23

That is crazy Spud! Way too long!

71spud - 2009-03-11 16:45

There is a story to go along with it.... and I also tend to give people the benefit of the doubt in most cases. And I didn't pay until 3 weeks ago... he had to deal with some issues on his end first. We will see.... I am more worried about his packing job than anything else right now. I don't think he packed it himself. And I don't think the packing instructions got passed along.

But whatever will be will be.... Leaving

71spud - 2009-03-12 14:55

GOOD NEWS #1 It finally arrived today!!!!!!!!! Big Grin

2 days Priority Mail from CA To WI, not bad.... surprised me! The post lady even left it in the garage instead of making me come down to the post office and pick it up. Almost makes me forget I won this all the way back on Jan 18th....

GOOD NEWS #2, no shipping damage!!!!!!! Big Grin

It came in a box that seemed a little small. But I opened it up and I was VERY happy to see that he had taken the PC-6 apart and the main units were in one cube separate from each speaker, the handle, and the very fragile back cord cover. Each item was wrapped in plastic wrap, then in two layers of the small bubble wrap. OK, great, he did everything I asked except for using LARGE bubble wrap and a STURDY box. The box was in bad shape... but it held up and did it's job.

GOOD NEWS #3, everything works!!!!!!!!!!! Big Grin

Tuner, tape deck, EQ etc, all functions work great. One of his excuses was having the deck serviced. With all the other excuses I kinda doubt that happened, but perhaps it did. In any case it is fully functional right now and that is what matters. It sounds very good, but I have not cranked it up.

GOOD NEWS #4 It is in great condition!!!!!!!!!! Big Grin

Yes, I need to clean it up a bit, but aside from a bit of wear here and there it is in great shape, as I had hoped for... but not counted on. All original cords and connectors are included. The back cord cover is in perfect shape, no cracks, no missing tabs.

GOOD NEWS #5 I OWN A JVC PC-6!!!!!!!!!!! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

I will be posting some pictures soon.... of the PC-6 along side of it's little brother the PC-3, it's half-brother the PC-5 and the larger RB-95k speakers that "match" the PC-6 speakers. I will say that the PC-6 is a very interesting combination of all of these items. Almost like it was a small run experimental type thing. I will also have to do an A/B/C with the PC-3/5/6 to compare how they sound.

Now I can breath again!!!! Laugh Out Loud

redbenjoe - 2009-03-12 15:25

hoooooraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay-
