redbenjoe - 2009-03-22 19:45

anybody know if the M90 was ever made with OEM WHITE woofers ?
or are these old faded blue ,tan or grey speakers ??

kittmaster - 2009-03-22 19:54

I don't think those are white, most likely just faded blacks?

One of my 90's has the same issues.
The woofers are bleached from the sunlight.
They are still blue on the backside
They still sound ok though Eek

i belive they are that light blue originaly,,but remember that a good mayority may have seen a lot of outside in its years of service and your normal inside use, changing temperature, as i gone though a lot of those speakers i did notice that even they had faded in color but you still could see a hint of the original light blue most of the times in the bottom of the ribbed surround as you all know up to now its been said that the back side is in fact light blue in color so the fading is in fact mostly age related as these speakers are sprayed with a coating to resist rotting as its common on speakers that are not taken care of especialy spills, the gray color was in fact dirt buildup and after cleaning they had a whitish color it happen to my m90 so i decided to paint it black oh btw the tweeters are blue also but since they were never coated they faded right away as i found a couple of tweeters that still had a bit of light blue left especialy in the corners basicly in the exact same place as the woofers, it leaves to belive that those m90 with still good looking blue speakers the owners took real good care of them there may have been an exception but the ones with the blue speakers looked mint Nod Yes Smile

eric - 2009-03-25 09:59

ramon what kind of coating is on the m90 woofs? It does make them look different than any of the other speakers I have seen. Like some type of glossy sheen. Take a look at my avatar, I was so suprised how blue mine were after I cleaned them, I had to take a pic.

eddy - 2009-03-25 11:40

Eric , the woofers are treated with some stuff
against humidity. What did you use to clean them. I might have a go to try to get that colour back too

ford93 - 2009-03-25 12:21

My M-90 speakers were faded gray and I took the advice of Nelsongf and Fatdog.

I bought Fabric spray and a can of clear coat and the results were excellent.

F.Y.I. always cover the dust caps!

Eddy thats whats funny, I did not do anything special, just took a soft cloth and wiped off the dust, I don't think they had ever been cleaned......
