Panasonic RX-5100 & external speakers ?

drew - 2009-04-19 08:10

I noticed when doing a search of the 5100, people note that this box has a high volume output with a respectable 25 watts of power consumtion. When searching the web, I found a Japanese Panasonic ad from 1980, and pictured with the 5100 is a pair of external speakers(about 8 x 15 inches in size). anyone know the model number of these ?

It seems that the 5100 is well suited for external speakers, having decent power.

I found this Panasonic yesterday for $15. at a Radio show and it's a pretty nice well made unit. Early Sony's are what I like most, but I notice the whole range of 1978-85 Panasonics are liked by collectors.

RD-9120 Smile

forget about 25W power consumption Smile,
5100' output power - 4 watts per channel, 8 W total.
some of boxes sound pretty good with suitable external speakers

Yes, thanks for the scans & model #

Those Asian Boombox ad's are pretty good, but I could do without the "Disco X" theme.

Also, I notice that the RX-5100 in those ad's has a pair of tweeters plus mics....mine looks like just the mices obove the woofers ?
