Is Your Ghetto Your Mate ?

im.out.of.hear - 2009-04-27 18:23

Do you consider your ghetto blasters as your friend or family ?
i used to do it all the time, like one time i had a GF9090,When i got a 9191,i put it with the 9090 so they could be together, because they were both sharp and almost the same model number..and i never put a stereo in a room on its own because i thought it would get lonely, and when a stereo broke,i felt a deep loss,i used to treat them the same as a child would treat a doll or teddy, like a friend..i dont think like that anymore but i used to..
am i nuts or what ?

ahardb0dy - 2009-04-27 18:26

that's so special, putting them together like they were family, LOL

im.out.of.hear - 2009-04-27 18:33

is any of your relationships with your stereo`s like the film christine with the guy and the car ? haha

I feel that my GF-777 is a friend of the family. I sometimes feel bad when I rotate my boomboxes for use and one goes into the closet. Smile

ahardb0dy - 2009-04-27 19:24

you need to bring them out of the closet

I hate, all mine. Been thinking about, keeping tropical fish again. I went to the pet shop, last week. I said to the assistant "` i`d like to buy some fish please`. He said "would you like an aquarium? I replied "i don`t care what star sign they are".

im.out.of.hear - 2009-04-28 06:07

hahaha,you and your jokes man..
same here richy,i dont hate them but i just dont want em anymore..but everytime i say *thats it,no more* i go and see a box that i`ve always wanted, then i think "oh bugger"..
There is one i still want, and this is`nt directed at you rich coz you love yours..its a GF999..i want one badly but i just cant damm afford one,and because i dont class myself as a collector anymore,i`m not one that puts (willing to pay) a high value for any stereo, thats why it will always be just a dream..then again,i`ve always been that way..i dont have alot of money, but any cash i do get,i try to keep it right by my side for aslong as i can..

My boomers are part of my family but the part that if they F up their outta here.
Laugh Out Loud

Seems I always have at least a few boxes in rehab. I guess boxes are a lot like kids, if you don't take care of them and nurture them over time they will go bad and cost you lots of money. In this regard hell yes they are like family. Big Grin

Absolutely ! But that's why I like ya !

I have sorted my boxes in the storage for the optical look.
Big monolithic machines
3-Piecers
Midsize boxes and compact ones

The label does´nt matter.
Except the MovingSound series.
This one is sorted together. Big Grin

Friend? Family?
Not direct, but it´s a part of my life.
Without boxes there would be something missing... Wink

im.out.of.hear - 2009-04-28 13:26

i can live without my boxes, but i do feel i will have to keep at least 5 or 6..

And Ben,how the hell are you old man ? what you up to these days..

moncheeto - 2009-04-28 13:49

it seems that our boxes do become part of the family the only thing is when you have too many not enough time to spend with them Smile

Well, as insane as my wife thinks I am, I dig my boom box. I just acquired this box (my avatar) less than a month ago, so we’re still bonding! LOL. But since I had this box 23 years ago, it’s like having an old friend back. And old friend I can punish the neighbors with!

erniejade - 2009-04-30 21:35

my sanyo 9990 and 9994 i call the brothers sooo.......... lol

riddler - 2009-05-03 06:24

My Original GE is pretty special to me, can't ever see parting with that one. But as far as keeping them company yeah that's nuts Wink

blaster - 2009-05-03 12:03

my GF-777 i consider it part of the family and it had its long story...it was bought new by my bro in 1984 then left the house or sold to a friend in the late 80s...then i bought back from my friend in 2000 or so...so its like family that left but returned back home...and its been with me ever since and will never part... Smile

That is cool that the friend had kept her/him* with out throwing her/him* away, and that you were able to buy her/him* back!!!!!!!

What did/does your brother say about that????????????????

(*Being part of the family, I do not know if you find it has BALLS or if it is pure BEAUTY.... So "Her" or "Him"...... Big Grin)

johnnygto - 2009-05-03 13:39

Blaster that is a awesome story, I have a little Aiwa that my mom probably bought 10-12 years ago, nothing special but since my mom has passed (cancer) I would not sell it ever!

Just like I don't sell presents from special people in my life, instead I just store them until the day comes I pass away, then it won't matter and it will just be one less loss in my life I have to suffer.

I love family and friends.
