My -NEW- Lasonic TRC-931

trc911 - 2009-06-08 01:17

Hi all, I am new to the forum but no to boom boxes, I have had a sony CFS-1000, Crown CSC-950, A reissue TRC-931 and multiple others. Any how I just bought this from ebay for $105 and It is MINT, soft eject, both tapes work and it really has a great sound unlike most new boomboxes and 2000 release 931s. I would have to say it's sound quality is up there with the CSC-950. It is 100% clean,it still has its protective film and exaggerated 200 watts (pmpo) decal on the deck, here is a pic of her, fuzzy but if it was high resolution I definitelly wouldn't have got it for the price Smile

BTW she loves hitting the high notes with mariahs careys fantasy and low notes with tupac

that looks great man!!! welcome to the site. if you could could you post a hi res picture of the bottom deck with the sticker on it Big Grin

will do once I find a camera, I am SOOO glad the seller had a bad camera Smile

That sticker is so exaggerative,it's 48watts power consumption but 200 watts PMPO ???

PMPO? b0ll0cks more like Smile

Nice Lasonic - new-old stock was it?

I believe so, the guy who posted it on ebay "couldn't" tell me where he got it from but hey, for the price , $105 I don't care. You should have seen my face when I opened up the box it was in, I thought it was going to be like the pic, but WHAM It was as clean and shiny as my Nintendo Ds when I bought it and all protective film on it.there isn't any dust anywhere, not even in the tape deck which are known to become dirty. I am in the process of finding a minty boombox to mod for the Ipod or my fave the Zune. I just couldn't dremel into this gem Big Grin

SmileThank ya!

Considering the existance if the i931, whouldn't it be a little bizarre to mod an original 931 for iPod use?

trc911 - 2009-06-10 10:38

I think you posted in the wrong thread, but you're like my tea, half and half. right and wrong
the old 931 was built to a higher standard compared to the new i931. I'm not just talking about 931s though, any dead or malfunctioning box can start life renewed with the I-mod Big Grin

looking at this again, I guess you needn't have been talking about the Lasonic you just got - I just assumed you were Smile
It's been said that the old Lasonics do sound better than the new one. Having only heard the new one, I'm not surprised. It's good but not *that* good. That siad, it's still miles better than so many other iPod speaker systems out there & with those looks too, it's got it's heart in the right place...

yeah, I see what you mean. A kid at my work brought in his 'system' for his I pod and the sound SUCKED, I brought the 931 in the next day and BLEW it out of the water with high notes and low thumps Laugh Out Loud
