im.out.of.hear - 2009-05-12 02:30

Got one of my fave boxes out last night..it had been stood for over a year..started to clean it..but when i looked at the time,i found i`de been at it for hours..
is it just me or is it normal to geek out, spending hours getting in to those little gaps ? i cant be the only one ?
Back me up guys..

With you on that one, brother.
I just spent 2 hours cleaning up half dozen tapes I picked up from thrift shops today alone.

It's wonderfully rewarding.

Rock On.

I do the same - but you know what, when you are spending hours cleaning them, it feel very theraputic and a sence of achievement when done and you stand back and look at your hard work Wink

also you can pick up very cheap tooth brushes down the market/carboot and they work nicely as well

or maybe we are just all mad and need help Roll Eyes Nod Yes Laugh Out Loud

Yep am with you Gluecifer n Bendycat..

HaHaHa you use a tooth brush aswell,i do the same, use my old toothbrush (got to be soft brissles) an old glass or cup, some washing up liquid, warm water, tooth picks, cotton sticks (cotton buds as we call them in uk) lots of soft clothes, and some furniture polish..and thats me for hours..

bendycat - 2009-05-12 09:04

you should also try Turtle wax "Bug and Tar" remover - has a degreaser and a polish in one - use it on all my bmx's - car - and box's

it leave a shine new look to every thing while taking off hard stains (always try on some thing you don't mind learning on - broken box)

bendycat - 2009-05-13 10:55

On my second - but this one needs a good seeing to as it's been in a smoking room and you can write your name with cleaner on the side Laugh Out Loud
it was champaine gold but it's starting to come up silver !

theraputic work - maybe we should charge others for this - help calm them down

third lined up Wink

Bendycat, you are one crazy dude!!! But you tell it like it is!!! When you love something enough, time has no meaning!!! Cleaning your Box, is like dusting off your Trophy that you've won back in High School.

It's like, kissing a girl for the first time. It's like, the first time you've ever driven a Sports Car!!! It's a very Cherished moment, between a Model and an Artist!!!

I hope I'm making sense, or perhaps WE ARE ALL MAD, as Bendycat has stated!!!

You will get me into trouble say that i've said you lot are mad Eek Laugh Out Loud

i just think it's cool when you have done all that hard work and look back and say "i did that and that was all my hard work to make it lok like that Big Grin"

now if after that you just sit there staring at it, looking at it's lines and cleaness and lovin it - then yes you are proberly mad Nod Yes

i think like KB53 said - it's a right of passage in life owning some thing like a big ghetto blaster - it's yours - you feel bigger and older when you get it (teenage years) - you may of worked hard to pay for it to get it

nowaday's we can buy more than just one - we can hunt down the box that you lusted after all that time when you were young - the same thing happens with old bmx's - it takes you back to a time when life was fun - the sun was hotter - the grass turned brown - the girls were magical - the times were good and the summer was endless - this is you past and memorys, and this is all brought back with collecting blaster's

can you remember years ago, with you mates some where and you had your blaster with you - a fresh set of batteries - some cool jam tapes - sitting back having a laugh and feeling sh!t hot, cos you have your tunes playin - the girls looking - the old folks making a bad face and you feeling dam cool Cool

get me a time machine cos i'm going back to when summer time rolls and i have no cares Nod Yes

cheers B

CANTBEARSED, YOU'RE MAKING ME FEEL LIKE FRED SANFORD AFTER READING YOUR POST: "OH THIS IS THE BIG ONE!!! YOU HEAR THAT ELIZABETH, I'M COMING TO JOIN YOU HONEY!!! WITH A BAD HANGOVER"!!!

I HOPE YOU DIDN'T BEAT THE PERSON UP WHO SPILLED THE VODKA. (WHAT A WASTE: NOT THE BOX, THE VODKA)!!! JUST KIDDING!!!

with you to on this ghettoman, many hrs spent on cleaning, i also get the hump Laugh Out Loud if the kids nik my cotton buds or baby wipe that i use for cleaning

retro.addict - 2009-05-23 06:35

I spend ages cleaning my boxes also. It always amazes (and disgusts) me how much dust and bits they pick up after not being used for a week or so. This might sound shocking, but as my GF-777 is my most loved box, I store it in a binliner. I don't really like hiding it away from the World, but it keeps the dust off it and maintains its minty condition and shiny chrome. I play it maybe once a week and it always looks the same, so I'm happy.
