M90 vs Big Ben

vladi123456 - 2008-12-31 09:52

Well, first of all, let me clarify for our perverted members - when I say Big Ben - I do not refer to any of my body parts. I promise! Laugh Out Loud

Now with that out of the way - this week my main box is BigBen, and last week it was M90. I only compared the FM stereo on both, and I have to say - there's not much difference between the two as far as sound quality. They both are super loud. Seems like BigBen has better highs, but M90 has more bass, but M90 distorts when turn the bass all the way up. BigBen, on the other hand, doesn't distort - I can turn the bass up more - so overall, they sound pretty close - except that I had to turn treble down on BigBen to match M90's.
Has anyone else compared these two boxes before?

I have both, I haven't listened to my big ben yet, but I'm betting my m90 will kill it......IMO

Line-in sounds more powerfull on M90. But FM Stereo - I think BigBen is a little better. But I'd be interested to hear your opinion! Smile

I never quite understood the suprise that some have when others, such as myself, love their bass cranked. It seems that the manufactures marketed their boxes with the intent of promoting how bass heavy and powerful their units were maiking high pmpo ratings easily visible to the buyer and all and using terms like "hyper bass", "S-XBS", and "mega bass". And then once you get it and are ready to bass the thing out, it wants to distort on you and/ or underdeliver in the process. Either the manufacturers should promote it and then deliver on it, or not overexagerate it in the first place. On a side note, how hard is it to build a bbx with heavy bass, great low bass and no distrortion when cranked? Just curious.

vladi...that's a tough one. The Big Ben really stands out...especially with the mics (a MUST have)and it has an amazing quality of sound. The M90 is also a nice box but looks quite simple and plain, but it is loud and powerfull. Comparing my Big Ben and My M90...i would say the M90 wins at loud volume...i like the warm sound from the Big Ben at lower volume though...PLUS i love Big Ben's Mics that stand so...so proud Big Grin

Both bbx's have a "classy" look to them. I would have to say:

Inside - Big Ben

Outside - M90

But what do i know Laugh Out Loud

Ya, I'd love to get the mics for my BigBen - it would look hundred times better.
And Ira, you should give it a second chance!
