Big woodie and tiny mono

viennasound - 2008-12-30 10:17

A friend of me is restoring an old farmer house.
The furniture inside is of the 50s.
He told me i should search for a fitting phono furniture.
He is a record fan as well.
So it must own radio and recordplayer.

To find a 70s phono is no problem.
But the 50s are very rare.
In good condition a hard job.

Wonders happens.
At 24.12. (!), yes christmas, i´ve found someting interesting in the net.
Short call, yes it´s there, but not long.
The residence of the owner close at 25.12. after his death.
Then everything inside get wrecked... Frown

So we had to go there at the same day.
With his cartrailer we went to the 1. district of vienna.
Many good situated people live there.
This residence was of an old russian doctor.

All the pretty old furniture (looking like chippendale and thonet) is getting killed with the chain saw. Eek
Destruction everywhere....

But the phono was in pretty good condition.
For a few bugs we took it. Razz
It was very heavy.

And so he got this pretty PHILIPS with DUAL recordchanger:

Pulling it out of the house:

First testing in the garage:

I made a total checkup with cleaning:

Every part of it is illuminated when opening the doors:

A lot of records (Tschaikovsky and so) was included for free:

After a repair now is everything working.
Except the "magic eye", i will find a new one:

Nice classic records:

Rare elastic records included too: Eek

Thats all?
No!

At the way out of the residence i´ve seen a little silver thing inside of a destructed furniture.
Whats that?
A little old boombox, take it if you want.
Then i pulled out this little KAPSCH mono:

At flea i would not take it.
But it was christmas. And for free you can´t go wrong... Wink

Look at the "Sumsi" sticker. This nice bee is the mascot of the local bank - in the 80s.
The antenna turns at the side from down to up!

Christmas wonder for this tiny little box.
And it´s fully working!

One more saved mono from the dump... Roll Eyes

Wow! The record player is very unique. I've never seen anything like that. I really like the interior lights.

The Kapsch bumblebee is cute! Smile
