S2G etiquette

buzz70 - 2008-08-18 05:21

Fellow members,

Most of you have known me for a while now. While my participation has waned because of my son growing up now, and I don't have as much time and money for the boombox hobby, I still have a love for these wonderful machines.

It is true that I have sold a number of boxes because I don't have as much time for them, and thought they deserved to go to someone who could enjoy them. However, I have received an email from someone that touched a nerve.

I quote,

"Why do you only come on s2g when you want to sell some of your crap?

Do us all a favor and leave the forum to decent users who actually want to participate properly."

I certainly have discussed many things on this board, and yes, I have occasionally posted about things I am selling. Isn't that what this board is for?

I certainly hope this type of behind-the-scenes activity isn't happening to other members. I have enjoyed this board for years, and I pray that my participation isn't seen the way this particular person expressed.

ford93 - 2008-08-18 05:32

Hey, buzz70 the guy is a jerk has nothing better to do. You may want to advice this to the moderators. I remember not too long ago Panafan advised to all members to inform him about jerks like this to him via PM if I'm not mistaken.

retro.addict - 2008-08-18 05:35

I wonder if that's from the infamous 'GH' character who I remember reading about a while ago? There is no need for people to send offensive emails like this... Frown

isolator42 - 2008-08-18 06:12

yeh, maybe drop PF a PM, otherwise totally ignore it.

No-one here thinks that about you, Mark.
If they did, I would rate their chances of survival on s2g as very low... Smile

l.lopez - 2008-08-18 06:27

Thanks, everyone. BTW, I did get a new boombox to my collection, in minty condition. Even went and picked it up myself.

Introducing, the Panasonic RX-C66

That was the first thing that crossed my mind. Laugh Out Loud

Buzz I think we are all completely cool with you and your participation on S2G. There are no requirements to membership here except that you not be a jerk or try to rip us off. I don't feel you have done either and I'm sure others feel the same way. So the best advice has already been given, "ignore the emails" and chalk it up to a sick person who gets his jollies off of crap like this.

buzz70 - 2008-08-19 18:28

Yep, they're really square. There's several boomboxes that I can think of that have real square woofers...

Panasonic RX-C20, RX-C53, RX-C66 and JVC PC-W88 come to mind...

retro.addict - 2008-08-20 07:43

Cool! Cool How good do square woofers sound? Does there seem much difference in sound compared with similar quality/sized circular woofers?

thafuzz - 2008-08-20 13:34

Hi Mark, it's good to see you're spending precious time with your son. That's just priceless. I'm glad you're still checking in with us too. You're cool here. We'll all go to bat for you. Check your PM bro Wink

enskanker - 2008-08-20 16:20

I don't think the square ones quite match their round counterparts. I've had Sony models with square speakers, and Panasonics, and I think they're a little bit "tinnier", and don't quite have the bass response.

What about the Panasonic RX-C300? Doesn't it have square woofers? How does it sound?

panasonic.fan - 2008-08-22 18:41

The RX-C300 has round drivers.
