Sears 2132. She's long gone...but the manual remains!

Rebranded Toshiba or Hitachi most likely.

WOW!!! Obtuse, you're one of the few people I know, that's held onto the Owners Manual. You should go to E'Bay or somewhere to see if you can find another Box. And then, take your Owner's Manual and place it in plastic like the Comic Book Collectors do, and save it!!!

It might be worth something!!!

Saw one on eBay a couple years ago, and put a bid on it. Someone else won it. Haven't seen another since.Frown

Was a very sturdy box...went with me everywhere until the cassette stopped working.

You know, although most of the brands were from Japan, or Taiwan, you've got to give the USA some credit too. OUR boxes kicked major butt on the streets!!!

I once had an RCA Box back in the late '80s. It lasted for a good while, until just like yours, the cassette stopped working. (It must be an American thing) But as far as sound quality, you can't beat the Good Ol' USA, for keeping up with the trends!

That Realistic that I'm so proud of, that you see under my name, is just like a TIMEX Watch: Takes a Lickin', and keeps on Tickin'!!! I've done a little research, and it's from 1978!!! 31 Years Young, and still kickin' Butt on the street.

But Obtuse, don't give up!!! Who knows, you may be walking down the street one day, and find one at a Yard Sale, like I've found this one!!! And for $5 Bucks at that!!!

...and Sears makes a fine box.

I've learned to never underestimate the "store brand" equipment from 70's-mid 80's, as much of it came from very good suppliers. That Realistic reciever or car stereo could be a Pioneer. That Sears radio? Could be Sanyo, Toshiba, Hitachi, or Panasonic. JC Penney's MCS line? Mostly Panasonic/Technics.

In this case I believe it was manufacturd by Sanyo, since such a cassette drive mechanism has been used on several Sanyo`s... Wink

Yup...here's the Saba RCR-445 (courtesy shizaudio.ru).

I definitely prefer the look of the Sears (silver knobs/buttons, overall cleaner look).

I've noticed that lots of brands copied each other's styles!!! Must've been a competitive thing.
