redbenjoe - 2008-12-27 06:14

its mostly never cool to post anything about ongoing ebay auctions.

--PMs for heads ups to buddies are the only way to let each other know --that a good ebay deal might be available --

i sent out a few PMs on this one --wish i sent out a few MORE !! Smile Frown

Ahh, the walkman thief strikes again with a win.

Had I seen "the him" leading on this one, I would have bid it up specifically (shamelessly?) to cause "the him" to incur more cost. No other reason, this box isn't on my list.

- 2008-12-27 08:43

Yup, i got a PM from RBJ for this one because i really want one of these bolt boxes and RBJ is probably sick of me badgering him to sell his Big Grin

Maybe the new buyer thinks that this boombox was "potentially" owned by the great "Emmitt Smith"...could it be a possiblity Laugh Out Loud? At any rate i'm sure this Nippon will blend in nicely when it arrives to it's new destination Cool

if --we did blow what might have been a good deal for a member --my only suggestion to prevent it from now on --
might be if we used our 'wanted' section --to each list some parts of our wish lists -

that we we can all at least know who wants what.

like - they might have been 20 members waiting for a decent price on a bolt box--

anyhow .....next time it should go to us s2g members Smile

Wow... Roll Eyes

That win officially puts him over the $5,000 mark - $5,128 spent on boomboxes since August 28, 2008.

panasonic.fan - 2008-12-27 09:11

How exactly was anything "blown" by "us"?

It was PM'd around, good deed for certain.

PF --its just a 'guess' about IF we blew it --

imho -- this bolts box, along with the lasonic #920 and several others --
are on the wish lists of many members --

the last 2 good bolts boxes have sold THIS month for about $250 and about $500 --

so IF --a bunch of members were distracted -this holiday week --and never noticed a good deal on the horizon --

then --we, as a group - blew it .

then - the non-member winner --who may have 10 already --and will just trash this collector type box Frown --seems to make this deal a total 'we blew it'

jlf - 2008-12-27 09:37

RBJ... did you say 'anyhow' in your second post of this thread?! Laugh Out Loud

I think everyone here is well aware of the boombox category on Ebay.

Speculation like this is pointless. Folks look after each other here all of the time, and still, hundreds of interesting boxes go by on Epay every month, with dozens of folks claiming to be "on the lookout" for these boxes for their collection sitting on their hands. It happens. No big deal.

It's not like "the him" will stop scarfing up boxes any time soon. Such is the disease of compulsion.

The only minus I see is who it ended up with. Regretfully more so since he stiffed one of our valued members for over $100, then failed to return the merchandise.

A thief, so to say. I never root for them.

enskanker - 2008-12-27 10:22

Is "THE HIM" , him of buses and Texas Cities?

panasonic.fan - 2008-12-27 10:27

Is there anyone else who one would reference solely in the third person? Leaving

enskanker - 2008-12-27 13:46

UE wonders why he even asked, he thought to himself. Smile

reli - 2008-12-27 18:37

I could see how the lightning bolts make it a cool-looking box in a Flash Gordon kind of way............ but that box can't possibly be great quality or great sounding, can it?

redbenjoe - 2008-12-27 19:35

reli- with alot of these types of high fashion Smile 'looks' boxes --
if you dont expect too much from them --
then they sound surprisingly good --

and the bolts box is like that

panasonic.fan - 2008-12-27 22:38

In other words, if you bought the one for $500..... it better be in the bedroom getting a lot of "action" based on it's looks...... Laugh Out Loud

johnnygto - 2008-12-27 22:51

I just noticed who won this! I would of totally bidded it up... I bet with a good cleaning and some help from members around here for a workable on/off switch flipper.. it'd be a great box.

I buy a lot of boxes based on looks and some for sound quality... The Bolt box is on my wish list for looks.. if it sounds okay that would be a bonus Smile

$5000+!!! wow that is a lot of money! Based on youtube he has one hella collection!

Johnny

Okay, I feel dumb. How is it I failed to figure out it was "The Him of Buses" by glancing at the encrypted bidders? Confused

Smilethere is a $500 (PLUS) RX7700 Panasonic in this 'looker' category --

and, any collector with plenty of boxes --knows that their boxes get played about 1% of the time --for the remaining 99% -

they just get looked at --right ?? Big Grin
