Decided to keep the broken 777 as a beater / parts machine. Took it apart last night - cleaned the power switch and tightened the power connections and it powers up! One tape deck sounds decent, the other is dead. Radio tuning wheel cable is seriously off track. Lot's of other small stuff wrong but I'll try to sort it all out.
I can fix the broken encasement with the same method used to prototype the PC-BOT's body panels (layered fiberglass)
