Your opinion about National RX-5080

sikorsky - 2008-08-05 12:26

Hello.
I never heard as this device sounds, therefore it is interesting to me, if something knows someone about this model or compared sounding to other radio tape recorders - it will be rather interesting to me to learn your opinion on it and in general about National RX-5080.
Thanks, Michael

1. Panasonic or National RX-5080 I cannot remember the difference between the Nat & the Pan, that's #1
2. Is, well, Here, take a look at how this sounds here Panasonic RX-5080 this is a vid that i put together back when I was first making little vid's of these boombox's so this 1 minute 40 seconds isnt too great, but at least you can see it and hear it ... James

I think the RX-5080 is a great sounding boombox, especially for only having a tone control instead of seperate bass/treble controls. It has a nice size and feel too,(IMHO).. Big Grin

If I recall correctly, the National RX-5080 was sold as the Panasonic RX-5085 in the US. The National model had SW and black speakers, slightly different trim. It looks pretty cool.

i like the pana 5085 better than the 5080 good size box sounds resanable and it looks good.

Panasonic RX-5085 is different than the Panasonic RX-5080 only in color of box and speakers, plus adding ; volume bass treble balance instead of volume tone balance RX-5080. Panasonic RX-5085 add's dolby nr & rec-mute, of which the Panasonic RX-5080 doesnt have. I have yet to see a National RX-5080 for the difference in adding Shortwave to the Radio section.
Both sound the same Musically as I'll bet that they both share the same amplifier, just that the 5085 is a fancier model, than the 5080.
Does anybody have a Picture of a - National RX-5080/SW?

Exactly as I described, the National 5080 is identical to the Panasonic 5085 save a few cosmetics and the SW bands.

My opinon is that they DON"T sound the same musically. The 5085 is the better performer because of the separate bass/treble controls, better tailoring of sound reproduction, and if you wanna blast the 5085 to "10",just cut back the bass some and floor it!! The 5080 sounds great till about "6" then it distorts, especially in Ambience mode.My very first boombox was a Panasonic RX-5085 I bought in late 1982.
