and was wondering... what are the top 3 3-piece JVC boomboxes ever made?

Oh No! can u please forget you saw the pc-11 on ebay. Roll Eyes
I need the accesories in a major way for the first box I had as a kid.

The PC 11 is nice, it really is loud and you can set it up so it doesnt distort on full vol. But it lacks any kind bass and real highs. I was thinking of dropping a coaxial speaker in it to brighten things up, but I dont know how to open up the cabinet without busting it.

PC 5 would be on that short list.
maybe the PC-100 for it's uniquness?
I havent heard any of the other PC models.

As far as JVC three piece units go, the pecking order is this for single deck units (least to greatest):

PC-3, PC-11, PC-5, PC-55(Silver)/550(Black)

Japan Only Models:

PC-7, PC9

The PC-100 is a mini with a detachable walkman.

So I guess I should go for the gusto and shoot for the PC-550... I always had my eye on that one anyway, but I thought there might've been something better.

That info is much appreciated, oldskool69. Cool

SmileI had a PC-11JW and I didn't like the sound it lacks off on bass for a heavy unit and I could'nt change the woofers to put better ones cause is like master Z mention I don't want to bust the cabinet cause they are sealed.

To get into JVC's component cabinets:

On the PC-3 you have to CAREFULLY remove the grille by pulling and breaking the rubber adhesive bond. Then remove six screws and BAM! You're in there. Speaker rests on the cabinet.

On the PC-5 there is a square insert on the front. These are really a headache because like above you need to lift it out carefully. Remove the screws, pull out and up.

The PC-11 and 55/550 you have two screws at the bottom. Take those out, pull out and up an the cover and ta-daa! You have access to the speakers which rest on the cabinet.

All of the wooden cabinets after the PC-11 access like above.

Hope this helps. Smile
