wow a little boomer that is no lightweight.

billpc55 - 2008-12-17 16:26

wow i just came home with a very well preserved jvc pc-3. obviously it needs some cleaning and spraying of the controls.
this being said its all working tape deck and all.
some of the buttons right now are intermitent like many of the pcs which are rescued from the wild.
ok so all this aside. how does it sound.
absolutely fabulous for a boombox with such tiny looking speakers. not big on sheer volume but its pretty good quality sound coming from those two speakers.
this boombox is very heavy for its size. reflecting back to the pc-11 i had i would say this one is in good condition.
i am puzzled tho. its in pretty nice cosmetic shape but.
there is one speaker which has been nicotined yellow. i scrubbed and got some off.
need to get some cash for some nutrol cleaner.
tape deck isnt as full featured as the pc55.
but is seems to share alot in common with that deck in terms of quality.
this little boomer isnt super huge but it does have a sound which might catch some off guard.
for half of my usual boxbudget i am smitten with it.

bill - never have seen that model --
sort or rare on ebay --
whats TINY speakers --
3 inches ?

some of us have the panny #C-50 models --with tiny speakers -and they sound very strong

billpc55 - 2008-12-17 17:53

i think they are three inchers.
they are small. the boombox is over twenty pounds. its very cool and sounds very good .
there is a bad ending to this story tho.
i just ramped it a bit to much and hurt the surrounds a little.
i can see those need to be done. still tho i am very happy to own it.
is a very good boombox. nice

redbenjoe - 2008-12-17 18:00

ok thanks -- the C50 has 3 inchers also -

and - imho- you did not suddenly bust your surrounds
they were about to go --anyway Big Grin

Ira you are as blind as you are old. You have seen and heard the PC-3. I traded mine to JT for a sweet Hitachi remember. I left mine in Florida in his care. Laugh Out Loud

My PC-3, Now with JT! And BTW...4" full range speakers.

So it's not 2-way? Those are fake tweeters up on top?

oldskool69 - 2008-12-17 18:31

Bass reflex ports. Smile

redbenjoe - 2008-12-17 19:42

you brought about 90 boxes plus Fatdog . so its hard to remember all that crap Laugh Out Loud

--those PC-3 woofs dont look or SOUND "tiny"

billpc55 - 2008-12-17 20:10

yeah this boombox is a really nice sounder.
i bet it was big bucks when it was new.
i will have to get the surrounds fixed. i dont think it could be that hard.

Gee, with Ira as old as he is, I'm just impressed that he remembers me being at the meet. Laugh Out Loud

redbenjoe - 2008-12-17 21:26

Here yah go Bill.

billpc55 - 2008-12-18 15:57

thanks for that skippy much appreciated

skippy1969 - 2008-12-18 18:18

Sure,no problem man! Wink

billpc55 - 2008-12-18 19:25

i just noticed in the bottom two pictures. the one on the left. what in the hell is it trying to show.
that looks like a oops on the behalf of the photographer and the marketing people. i mean the handle on top of the deck like that.
i dont get it.
strange but cool.

oldskool69 - 2008-12-18 19:45

The handle could also be attached so you could use the deck alone as a portable recording unit or, I can't believe they thought of this, carry your cassette tunes and use your headphones only. Smile

billpc55 - 2008-12-18 21:05

hey now that is cool.

master.z - 2008-12-18 21:18

Yeah thats funny! I want to know who has EVER taken the time to use the handle and tape deck combination like that. It's possible but not likely. I'd rather carry my walkman than a 15 pound mini compo tape deck with 8D batteries!
Peace,
Paul Z.

71spud - 2008-12-18 21:21

Yeah, they put some thought into it. The deck holds the batteries and has the headphone jack and control. Just think of the play time you would get with that... a 8 D-cell walkman!!! You would need a new pair of shoes before you needed to change batteries!! Laugh Out Loud
