...here's my panasonic:

weylandyutani - 2008-08-02 05:22

Very cool start guys. Cool

baby.boomer - 2008-08-02 09:58

And here's another version of autoreverer's National Panasonic 5410:

baby.boomer - 2008-08-02 10:10

One of my more obscure favorites, the NEC RM-248RE:

Notice how the FM is the old Eastern Bloc band: 64-74 MHz. Not much good for receiving anything these days, except the audio from some VHF-LO TV channels (depending on which channels are broadcasting in a particular area). Of course, next year, when all U.S. TV goes digital, VHF-LO will be good for absolutely nothing!

Man, I hope the deck works on that unit or it has line-in plugs 'cause it's just gonna be a good looking paperweight real soon!

baby.boomer - 2008-08-02 10:18

Panasonic/National Panasonic cousins:

baby.boomer - 2008-08-02 10:21

Not flashy, but a nice, kind of arty Grundig design:

Some boomboxes are mostly just for lookin-at. But, yeah, fortunately the tape deck on the NEC does work. And, of course, there's always the thrill of listening to the dazzling sounds of AM and SW radio! Roll Eyes

Man I frkn love those JVC,s what an insane monster.I can imagine the day someone had these on a drawing board and i would imagine there were arguments about placing it into production. "NOBODY WILL BUY A GIANT MONO"

Here's a Centrex RK-114.

isolator42 - 2008-08-19 05:05

My first ever radio cassette, the Philips AR073:

I no longer have it. If you ever see one, I'm beyond desperate!

Then along came another mono, my Hitachi TRK5351:

REAL budget stuff here, but it went everywhere with me & I loved it.
Right up the the point where IU could afford a stereo b-box.

Now there's something very cool about a massive, toyed up, kick-4rse mono. I remember stonking great brick-sh1te-house Aiwas, Sanyos & all sorts, so let's be havin' 'em folks...

xilef.regnu - 2008-08-19 23:09

TV's a bonus on this one!

awesome box lopez

gluecifer - 2008-09-08 02:12

I'm not into collecting mono's but a lovely lady I'm giving computer help to donated this to me today because she knows I collect 'big radios', needless to say it's now my favourite mono.

Behold, the His Master's Voice BATTALION!

Bass, Treble, Mic Mixing controls and a natty VU meter than can be switched into REC, Battery or even Tune mode. Backlit dial and VU too,.. (sorry about the crappy pic, camera just ran out of juice).

I love the very military motif, replete with gun sight styled marker on the tuner. Sounds nice and solid and although the deck needs new belts the radio kicks along at a very pleasing level.

Rock On.
