I Found My Demo Tapes!!

ghettoboom777 - 2008-12-10 21:13

Hi everyone-I just found both of my original demo tapes for my new 1980' M9970 Sanyo and of course the one from the Sharp GF-8989II that I bought new in 1981'.
Now if I can just get my hands on that original GF-8989II that I gave my old girlfriend-I'm working on it-stage 1 is in place!
I loved that boombox and well-I loved her also. Red Face
But these are rare finds as I do have replacement boxes-the first one went to my neighbor who passed away in 1986'.Never knew what happened to that one-I may inquire someday-first for this one(8989) if it's even still in exsistance.
Tha Sharp tape has pre-recorded disco on it and some jazz-seriously-I've never sat down and listened to it!
I like the Sanyo better-I think it was blank originally-if not it has Vaughn Mason-"Rock,Skate,Bounce,Roll" now and Yarbrough & Peoples "Don't Stop The Music"-both recorded in 1980'!
Tell us and show us your original boombox tapes-I forgot to take photos of these-I'll show when I post more photos.
Have a great one-GB. Smile Nod Yes

What?! Are you kidding?

Original demo tapes?! That is so awesome!

Do they have special graphics on them? Stickers that maybe Fatdog could replicate?

Id love to have one of these for my 8989! Even if it was a replicated sticker on some other old school minty cassette! Smile

Hi JLF-No-looking at them right now-The Sanyo says Compact Cassette C-12 made in Japan with the Sanyo symbol and letters.
Now the Sharp is way cool-yes it has those lines in the corner going up like on the GF-777 boombox box!!-It says Sharp Demonstration Tape and it even says on side A
(1)Hush A Bye.
(2)Down By The Riverside
And on The B side it says you can record on this side which I did!
I love these-I have to get more boomboxes just because of this!
I might have to get FD to help you out somehow-the graphics are cool on these.
Gotta go-GB. Smile Nod Yes Razz

Hi guys,

My first post on S2G...

Picked this up a couple of days ago from an op-shop. Anyone know which unit it's from?

Still is functional. Smile

Demonstration tapes were the only prerecorded cassettes available before the recording industry started selling music cassettes.
The boombox might have been responsible for this too.

I have a Japanese Demo CD for the Hitachi CX-W700:

It has 4 pretty awful eurobeat tracks on.
My buying it is an example of how unhealthily obsessed I am with the 3Ds... Smile

Indeed, there can surely be no doubt that the boombox & the walkman were major contributing factors in the popularity of the pre-recorded cassette.
