Can someone explain to me why Canada is so damn slow....

kittmaster - 2008-07-25 05:05

My god, I won a box june 30, today is the 25th, yet still nothing.

I've been following the track and it took 17 days just to get OUT of canada......WTF.

that was a week ago, and still 2 days for customs and most likely be here by the weekend........god willing.

My boss went to montreal a week ago, 7 hour ride one way, hell if it was earlier, I'da just had him pick up the box personally......my god.....If this is "expedited mail", I'd hate to see what snail mail would bring:

Product Type: Expedited USA Date of Event Time of Event Location Description Retail Location Signatory Name
2008/07/16 15:52 International item has left Canada
2008/06/30 19:51 MONTREAL, QC An order has been electronically submitted

Slowest postage in the world ..... even slower than Greece and Italy.

I'm sweating on a box that is meant to have been sent airmail

I think it's hit and miss and also depends on what carrier they use. I've received boxes from Canada to California in just 1 week via ground service but I've also had them take 3 to 4 weeks.

I've bought a few from Canada - I think in average it took 5-6 weeks for them to get to Texas

walkgirl - 2008-07-25 11:06

I did wait about 5 weeks for a walkman to get
here from Canada Confused

Aey????

chilinvilin - 2008-07-25 14:11

If I remember.. once it arrived at the border it still was 3 more weeks b4 it arrived. That was expedited..

Man, that's f'd up! I've received goods from Japan in mere days (won on eBay on Friday and got it on Tuesday, once on a Monday) and that's coming from halfway around the world! Confused What the hell is their excuse?

I Agree Replace "California" with "Philly" and our story is the same. Nod Yes I think Canada Post is kinda wack as a shipper.

kittmaster - 2008-07-25 18:19

Just hope it arrives in one piece!

Regular postal mail is slow in Canada but cheaper.
But if it was sent using UPS or other private carriers it would probably have been much faster.

l.lopez - 2008-07-26 09:25

I Agree I'm still waiting for a boombox myself and haven't received and I tracked it down through Canada Post and it says that is still in Canada and is been a month. Very slow indeed very sucky.

jcyellocar - 2008-07-26 13:35

It must be customs or some logjam at the border. My mail gets to me pretty quick from all over the country. But, then again I haven't had a boombox-sized parcel ever mailed to me.

joe.cool - 2008-07-26 13:42

I Agree Customs are usually the culprits (on both sides, especially since 9/11). My mail (even international, and parcel)) is fairly quick and reliable.

My thought on this is that Dudley Do-Right hand carries them across Canada on his horse. My recent bbx purchase took Paypal a week to clear and 2+ weeks to journey through the country.

gagaeyes - 2008-07-29 19:04

I bought stuff through ebay from your country too and most times it takes a hell of a long time to come here...i bought stuff from japan too and it comes here in mere days so I think it's got something to do with customs since the 9/11 thing

jameswp67 - 2008-07-30 11:40

I live in Canada, and when shipping in country its very fast. Going across borders is slow on both sides of customs, but US shipping is the same. It takes at least 2 weeks and sometimes more than 4 to have boxes arrive--even UPS can take 10 days sometimes when coming from the US!

kittmaster - 2008-07-30 12:07

Well hughes emailed me yesterday and explained there was some shipping delay on his part, so I'm not sure what that does to the timeline or due date, but at least he did give me a heads up. His reasons are personal and I will not devulge what those reasons are but they were significant and I more than understand. It will get here when it gets here I guess......

I bought stuff from Canada in the past which is why I was wonder why its taken a month, but that is simply not the case here. So hopefully it will arrive soon.

Thanks for all the feedback folks
