billpc55 - 2008-12-01 19:13

so yeah i have 44 but i would say only maybe a dozen really cool ones. Big Grin some of the early ones i got for a couple bucks here and there were pretty well Roll Eyes lame. but they usualy only cost me under five bucks.
the favorites i have are
pioneer sk-95
sanyo m9998k
sony fh 215r i have two of them
jvc kaboom i have two of them
yamaha pc8 sold one got another
jvc m80 in very nice shape
panasonic 707 i really like that one for a egg it is just well really nice sounding.
sanyo m9940k.
those are my favorite ones.
i have some very nice smaller ones too but they are in the closet for now.

sinister - 2008-12-01 19:23

i have 50 Cool

billpc55 - 2008-12-01 19:32

i am going to weed out my collection in the new year. i have some plans for giving some of them to my younger friends from the local music scene around town. they love the presents they get from me.

billpc55 - 2008-12-01 21:31

oops i just ufcked up the no comments posting on the other thread.
back to what i was saying there.

wow ira you sure have boomed since you arrived here. you have also got some awesome boomboxes now.

vladi123456 - 2008-12-01 22:02

Ya, I wasn't going to have more than 10, but this is so addictive - next year I'll try to exchange some of my duplicate grails for grails I don't have yet Smile

billpc55 - 2008-12-01 22:12

you are right it is addictive. i mean you get one that sounds awesome then you wonder what this is the other will sound like. the funny thing is they all sound different. my better half thinks it is a amazing thing that there can be so many different designs for something which is supposed to do the same thing.
there is so many intresting elements to it.
i mean you can see the boombox going from a very expensive item for the well to do to a iconic urban culture artifact.
i also find it interesting that there used to be so many choices for a great sounding boombox.
now it would seem that there is almost no choice for one.
its a very cool hobby for sure. i mean most of us arent going to be collecting cars like we thought we would when we were younger.
so it might as well be boomboxes.

vladi123456 - 2008-12-01 22:31

Ya, I hear ya! They totally sound different - it's amazing! Big Grin
My soft spot is that I always hope to get a *mintier* version - and then it's not really all that mintier, so I keep both Big Grin

tpr - 2008-12-02 07:06

I guess when RADIOHIER and Blasterpunk are going to jump in,we`ll get the first 1000 together.....

thafuzz - 2008-12-02 08:02

Sorry, I was confused as where to post "here" or "there".. I only have 11 for whatever it helps. Smile

master.z - 2008-12-02 08:33

I have 8 with a HK9000 on the way.

Room is becoming an issue so i'll probably try to keep my collection around 10ish.
If I get more i feel i wouldnt listen to them enough and they would just sit there.
Whats the point of a boombox if it's silent?

I have 8 of mine all pluged in on power strips and daisy chained with line in & line out jacks into/out of each other. I plug in my iPod into the first box and they all blast the same song simultaneously Wink Wall of sound. Of course, my wife made me move them all out into my garage where I can only bother the neighbors Tap Toes

masterblaster84 - 2008-12-02 10:30

Well I blame all of you for my addiction and collection of 75 which is more than double what I originally planned to limit myself to. Big Grin

Unfortunately you all tought me there are no real limits, buy buy buy was the theme! What a harmless hobby outside of the lost sanity, the lost space, strange looks from people and the pure joy it all brings me. Nod Yes

vladi123456 - 2008-12-02 11:06

Don, the *strange looks* must be the looks of envy Big Grin

ewen - 2008-12-02 15:46

The Radiohier figure is in. Staggering. Eek

billpc55 - 2008-12-02 15:55

In some cases I Agree in others I think they want to commit me to the mental ward.
Laugh Out Loud

vladi123456 - 2008-12-02 20:53

Only because they want to steal you boomboxes Big Grin

71spud - 2008-12-02 20:55

Please don't make me add them all up...

redbenjoe - 2008-12-02 22:04

ok spud -- then just count your JVCs , and your non-jvcs --
then we can add them all up Smile

blasterpunk - 2008-12-03 00:04

Hmmm, i dont keep em all. This morning there were 153 boomboxes. But i ve sold more than 100 in the last years. Im still selling and buying boomboxes. Maybe tomorrow i have 140 or 170 ? Im happy, that a lot of my boxes went to s2g members.

djyetix - 2008-12-03 09:14

I can't count all my BBX`s. I`ve lost completely the overview. Many of them are stored in boxes. A lot are junk. Perhaps I`ve got now around 200 Blasters or more...

viennasound - 2008-12-03 09:59

In the other tread i´ve only posted the 45 Stereos. There about 15 Monos too. Wink And some other "exotes" and wrecks, i´ve not classified as counted boombox. Roll Eyes

Not as much as I expected actually. I thought they had over 1000. Nod Yes

isolator42 - 2008-12-05 09:55

45:

WAY too many Hitachi 3Ds (22, including doubles & junkers).

Rather more small/mid Philips boomboxes than is usually considered healthy (5).

5 cool toyed-up minis (Akai, Hitachi, Panasonic, Sansui & Sony)

2 weird 3pcs because my brother used to have them (Saisho & Bush)

2 grails (JVC & Sharp)

1 plays DVDs (& it's not been modified)

...& here's the surprising bit:
8 are in daily use Smile

kid.sensation - 2008-12-05 09:57

I posted 15 to the list, but i have 2 new ones on the way.

that makes me up to 17 Smile

sized down the collection quite a bit and want to keep it around 15.

71spud - 2008-12-05 10:06

I just want to say that the most amazing number so far is-----

2.

I cannot believe Jens has only 2 boxes....

Smart move... collect data... not boxes.

masterblaster84 - 2008-12-05 10:14

Spud that one always amazes me, how Jens could be so involved with this site and only have 2 boomers. Confused I'd like to know his secret because I couldn't stop at 20 let alone 2.

71spud - 2008-12-05 10:50

He is like a bartender that can make every drink in the world you can think of but would rather watch everyone else get drunk and make fools of themselves than do shots with them. Laugh Out Loud

On the otherhand he gets to wake everyday without a BBX hangover.... Frown

I wonder what 2 he has. You would think it would be 2 of the biggest and best grails out there. But they are probably a couple of thrift store finds, no battery covers and missing the tape doors and no ends on the antenna.... Laugh Out Loud

masterblaster84 - 2008-12-05 10:52

To funny spud but you may have hit the nail on the head. Let's see what Jens has to say for himself after he reads this. Smile

71spud - 2008-12-05 13:18

Headcount here = 99
Incoming boxes = 6
In Storage = Approx 20

So I posted 125.....

I gotta get rid of some.... Eek

and buy some other ones... Nod Yes

EDIT: Went upstairs and found 3 more... total = 128

analogboi - 2008-12-05 13:25

I didn't include any of my "eggs." It's like admitting you like Abba or something. Laugh Out Loud

When do you plan to clear out? Smile

71spud - 2008-12-10 07:49

When I get a day with nothing else on my plate I am am going to take a front/back picture of all the boxes I want to get rid of... then I will post it in one big post and everyone can sort through them like a big flea market. Any questions regarding functionality and condition will be addressed and posted as asked. I don't have time to check unless someone has at least general interest in the box. Most of them I won't want much for... I just need the space. So there may be some good deals in there....

(Alot of non JVC boxes will be in there too, something for everyone. Probably about 30-40 boxes in all)

71spud - 2008-12-10 10:04

I will throw this out because I am just thinking about it...

"THE LIST" is ok but it is just a snapshot in time... could we include a field in the profile for the total number of boxes we have? Could be as simple as a number or it could be broken down by major manufactures or by collection boxes vs project. Probably better to keep it simple so people use it. It could be flagged with a date so we know when the number was last updated etc...

Just throwing out ideas...

bogdan - 2008-12-11 11:31

I'm looking forward to complete my collection with a silver gf 9191 and to bring back the JVC rc 838.
But I want to mention the real great value of the JVC pc v77,pc v88 wich I discovered for a while -excellent sound.I'm intending to open a thread on this subject Big Grin

ahardb0dy - 2009-02-11 16:35

I just added all the boomboxes up as of my reply, 3185
