Yes, how, again, do we calculate the correct amperage for a Boombox.... You take the wattage the voltage Bla, Bla, Bla.... Big Grin

That is what I've been calculating...... So, I am getting that..... What I am not getting is that, well.... How can I put it.....

I am looking for an amperage reading of 1000mA or if you want 1A or 2000mA/2A.... or 1250mA/1.25A


I am getting reading of 0.168181818181..... or, 0.063636363.......
etc!


Why? I wanna find the value in MA or A....... Frown

are you measuring the amp draw ??

unless you are at max full blast --with the bass and loudness full on and the deck recording off the tuner or line-in

ie -- using everything hard !!!

your amp readings will be as low as 10% to 30% of capacity.

Current reading will swing too much, because it depends of the current taken by the power amp at each moment, not only volume but frecuency contents (a bassy program will eat more current)
To read the higher current the BBX can draw, you need to drive both channels at max output power, and deck in record mode.

Measure the voltage of the BBX at a normal load (that when the transformer outputs its typical voltage). Then wattage/voltage will give you the current. Voltage is the DC voltage measured for example at the main cap filter.

Okay, Okay....... Wait, wait, wait........

The Voltage value we are to use for the calculation is the DC voltage (or, if you prefer... the voltage that has been stepped down), that is 15 volts -for example, and not the AC outlet voltage -220 here in Ireland?

That is why I am getting A reading of 0.016 bla, bla, bla....

So, for the RX 7700 It is rated at 37 watts, and it is at 15 volts DC.... This will equal 2.466666 A...... IS THIS CORRECT? Roll Eyes

Yes, you use the DC voltage, that is inside the BBX. The DC voltage is the voltage that has been stteped down by the transformer and has been converted to DC in the BBX.
As a rule, look at the biggest capacitor of the BBX. This is the filtering cap and DC path starts there. You can measure DC there.
