or can tell about the sound quality --say compared to the similar size M70 ?

i have several akai's,this one looks the part u should

thanks for the pep talk --i think i will pass on it --if no one here can speak up for its sound quality --

well - they look identical --
but sometimes the differences are in the tuner set-ups or just in the power supply voltages
I have an Akai AJ-520. Sounds good and looks cool ! May be a little unfair to compare it to the more quality sound of the M-70 but im never dissapointed with how it sounds. I like to use the line-in on this one and it handles that pretty well up to about three quarter volume.
I also have the smaller AJ-490 that sounds pretty good too. Both of these are fairly heavy, like they have some quality to them. I did also have another smaller upside down Akai but it was very light and sounded rubbish but the 520 and 490 are not like that. In my opinion anyway

a dozen in base:
aj-303cd
aj435
aj457
aj480
aj490
aj500
aj505
aj520
aj525
aj530
aj557
amb2000
thanks jens --the base shows that the 520 and the 530 share the same instruction booklet --so its probably fair to assume they are, for the most part, the same box.
--------------------
btw - for all prospective member bidders --PLEASE dont be over-polite and assume that this thread is in any way a request for dibs --
these are rare on ebay - and expect alot of collector interest --
as for me -
i would back-off if a good member has been looking/hoping to get this model -
OK?
![Smile](http://community.groupee.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)
this box is already alot more $$ than my interest --
so i am out --
good luck to any member who goes for it.

Hello Redbenjoe,
the difference is the missing Dolby Noise Reduction on the AJ-520.
Myself I have an AJ-530 missing the Knob for the Fe/Cr/Metal Tape selector.
The sound of the Akai is really great close to the RC-M70, but at the end the JVC is a little better.
Greetings from Germany!
Uwe
