End of Life for BoomBoxes with TVs on FEB2009 ?

mehyar - 2008-07-09 13:56

There are No Antenna connections....

Most NTSB VHF-UHF TV equiped BoomBoxes
operate from Antenna connected directly
inside.....

So a Converter Box (Digital->Analog)
is not possible....

Same goes ?? for many Wachman, Walkmans, and
Radios that pick up the NTSB VHF
Channles 2-13 Analog type.

In looking into this, there will still be some analog aired stations but most likely it will be the religious stations and some local stations. SO at least it will still be good for something. If you have rabbit ear connections (which some do) you can rig something. I think that the govt. or whomever was the deciding vote for this should compensate the people who own these devices that cannot be modified to work. Like most watchmans etc....

That would be our money to begin with!
These arrogant, egotistical government pr!cks - ahem, I mean Senators and Congressmen don't have any money, it's our money to begin with they just get to play with it like kids in a candy store.

America land of the free? not anymore here in Florida some of the politicians do agreements with companies without the voters consent. We are still in the snooze mode still and probably will until it's too late!

any of these B-boxes with tv come with video in of some kind? if so maybe you could watch DVDs with an external dvd player...just a thought... Smile

arkay - 2008-07-11 08:38

I have two tv boxes: one is an ultra-rare one with 12" B/W TV. It uses an external loop antenna(and/or rabbit ears), but has no coax "video in" or anything else like that. Would it be affected by the change? Can a converter box be attached to regular antenna terminals?

The other one, a JVC color portable, has all kinds of connectors and should be okay, I think.

Dam....I forgot about my mini-TV collection, all the big TV's are on cable. One of my newer Watchmans has a 1/4" jack for an antenna but the other one's don't. I'm thinking I could rig something up to the jack...

I think that tv's without a external antennae connection can have a external adaptation. now the question arises who really like to watch tv on old tv's. I guess not a big percentage.
I can be 25% wrong Nod Yes

Heres a thought
of course you will need at least an antenna coaxial input
or a 75 ohm adapter
