A 400 pound Sharp 777!!

dausone - 2008-11-17 09:38

Alright y'all, over a year later and my project is finally complete. Thanks to those who helped out. Just to break it down: I made a concrete casting of an old Sharp 777. Inside this beast is a battery, mp3 player, speakers, solar panel, and a motion switch that triggers an audio piece, a short story about my grandfather (which I will have uploaded soon). I am making multiples of these and 'planting' them around the city. I promised some pics... I am going through them today and will update this thread as they get finished.

Piece!
dausone.

i am willing to bet with or without the artists input that will be covered with graffiti if it is in public.

master.z - 2008-11-17 13:48

I'd rather have one of these outside my house instead of a goose or jocky!

Hey Fatdog! Thanks man. I will have the audio posted as soon as I can. And yeah, MacArthur Park. There will also be one in downtown, and other parks around LA. Also, for the OC heads, there is one in the Orange County Museum of Art.

I never did find the Promax. But I think I might be searching for another GF-777... I miss mine since destroying the hell out of it for the project!!

Piece.

dausone - 2008-11-17 13:52

That would be great to have some photos of some holy grails around this piece. Let me know if that ever happens, Id love some copies of the flics. And Blaster, it is sort of a memorial/monument of sorts to the holy grail box, as well as one to my grandfather. Let me know what you think if you make it down there to see it. The detail came out amazing, I will update the post soon.

ford93 - 2008-11-17 15:37

That would look so cool on someone's front lawn such as mine! Big Grin

The solar panel is there to trickle charge the battery. It really doesn't provide that much juice unfortunately.

analogboi - 2008-11-19 11:31

I think it's great when people create things. We definitely need more people like you! Nod Yes

isolator42 - 2008-11-26 06:38

So, does the weight of the thing stop people pinching it?

I'd have great fun paining one of these up to be as close to a real GF777 as possible...

master.z - 2008-11-26 07:21

Hey Dausone, did you ever post the audio/story for this box? I'm interested in hearing it.

Peace,
Paul Z.

ronster - 2008-11-28 06:21

I was wondering this also, - perhaps this is to be a piece of Guerilla art! And I was also wondering is it heavy enough to stop anyone casually uplifting it Wink
