Sears BBX from member Reli...

daiwa - 2008-06-26 13:15

Thanks to member Reli, for forwarding a cool little Sears box my way! Not 100%, but perhaps with new belts and some TLC, I will get her mostly functional. She cleaned up well. Here's proof:

ROCK, thanks Hans!!

Glad it arrived ok, be interested to learn what caused all the mechanical problems. I'm not a mechanic and I only paid $20 for it, so I figured I'd pass it on to someone else.

Actually Henry, I first got bit with the 70's and 80's gear bug about three years ago, when I wanted AV surround for movies. I bought a Sansui Quad amp, and it has taken me a number of years to get my full system working just right. Most of what I have in my system is mid-level, solid state preamps, mixers and some fancy processors.

I do have some highend tables, CD players and cassette decks also.
The Tandberg 3014 and the Nakamichi RX 505 tape decks were about my most expensive investments in my system, well over $350 into each.

I have eight speakers hooked up to the Sansui, and another couple to an AV receiver which feeds to the Sansui for awesome surround power. Nothing like movie sound that literally levitates one off the couch!

henrytai - 2008-06-30 21:07

i think those 80's amps are much better because of the clean design...those mordens' are just too complicated. Razz
I love those old marantz and Luxman
wish i can find one someday~but most of damn need a "big" service
