the one i got is pretty much like new.
the wierd way i got it was. i was in a mcc store and i picked up this huge pioneer reciever i went over to plug it in a give it a go. it was shot so my heart sunk a little. i looked down at my feet and there is was with the 10 price tag staring me in the eye. honestly i would have paid more for it. i mean it literally looks unused there is not any crazing on the plastic at all. it looks like it just came out of the box.
as for it sound quality. its not super loud in the bass end. it is really clear sounding tho. the tuner is really nice excellent reception on both am and fm.
alot of people dont like the grills on the speakers but you could take them off. not huge woofers there but they dance around nicely when its pumping. nice clean balanced sound not a great box for hip hop or any really sub bassy stuff. allthough it does the job.
it is a goregous boombox. i think its still a bargain at 67 bucks. some people have posted they were dissapointed with thiers but man its so nice.

yes i love the way this box looks. i didnt really care for the sk71 as much. the brown kind of kills the looks on those for me.
overall the build quality on this box seems exceptionally good. when i compare it to the jvc m80 i have there is no comparison. this pioneer is made of heavier plastic. the knobs on the panasonic have a nice solid dampened feel to them. there is no loose play in them at all. the tuner has a really sweet red and green indicator light wich looks fantastic. the led meters are very cool. the tape deck is filled with all kinds of cool features music search auto repeat.
this scares me a little as i know it will be the weak point in the unit. i think sometimes the more complicated the tape transport the more likely for it to fail.
i wont use it for tapes to much but it is really really nice sounding.
the bass is a little weak and it will fart when it is pushed with some sub stuff.
this being said at a decent loud volume it produces warm balanced sound.
it sounds expensive and i am thinking it must have been when it was new.

Rock on bill the panasonic back here in the uk was 350 pounds when new. i am the origional owner of mine.

billpc55 - 2008-10-30 21:47

i bet they were expensive here they were 600 bucks.
i read that the sk-95 was very expensive when new. i can see it.
i mean the build quality on it does seem really good. metal knobs and just really tightly put together. i am tempted to take a look inside to see if there is any dust in there that will have to wait till i am a bit more adventurous.
with regard to the dt 707. same deal some guy bought it and put it in his closet. not a mark on it. tape decks work like new and they seem to be really good too. cd player does skip a bit at high volumes with the bass turned up.

great box as i have that box its one of my favorites..not a loud contest winner but sound wise its awesome..consider getting the sk-900 which is the top of the line box in the sk series...

billpc55 - 2008-10-31 07:12

yep i agree. there is something about how it sound that is different and good. very good. its pretty warm.
