...my lucky day !!!

autoreverser - 2008-10-27 14:45

folks, writing you this from a little hotel in the middle of cologne,

staying over here for some job the next days, left the hotel for something to eat earlier, found a turkish 2nd-hand shop next door, went in - an got a GF-555 for only € 40,- !!!!!

that baby is in almost fully working order (only tape 2 got transport-problems), minor scratches, nothing missing, used but no cracks, just needs lank cleaning because the previous owner smoked too much - what a great box, f.m.o. better sounding than a 777, my best find for ages !!!

will supply you with some pics a.s.a.p.

If it sounds anything like the GF-666, I would agree that it sounds better than the GF-777. Congrats on the score! Cool

Congrats! I just got one of those not too long ago as well, but must repair both drives. They will both FF & REW, but they don't play. (belts or capstan issue)

I like the sound from the radio and line in... can't wait to eventually hear the tape deck.

It's a curiously solid box the 555, it's build far surpasses that of the 777 & quite possibly its sound quality. However, it has to be said that it's design isn't to everybody's taste & one-piece twin decks simply don't look right (unless it's a 777).

You opened her up yet? stuffed with chassis, panels & flanges.

let me know if you need parts, as I have a breaker.
