I Might Just Make A Pumpkin Boombox!!

ghettoboom777 - 2008-10-24 14:02

Hi everyone-I'm thinking of gutting out a pumpkin and make it into a boombox!
It's easy to put lights in a pumpkin but what about speakers-well I have some extra small computer speakers that I have taken out of their boxes(psarcophogous)and am going to install them but now for an amp-this should be interesting!
I have all the parts I need but maybe a few led's but I might really try to make this work.
I'll keep you guys informed! Razz Eek
Have a super weekend-Ghettoboom777.

Big Grin USE CAUTION !!!

dont forget -- the liquid pumkin will carry current Smile

ghettoboom777 - 2008-10-24 14:33

Hi Ira-I'll be using 12 volts only.
As far as the amp and tuner-I think I might just use a small boombox and run external speakers but that just may be to easy.
The lights and speakers are the easy part.
I haven't truly figured out the tuner amp.
I have one of those miniboom boxes-I could embed it into the top of the pumpkin on the side but again that's to easy.
This should be fun.
It makes you think and keeps me busy for halloween.
I just bought about 40 lbs. of candy this week! Eek
I'll keep you informed and thanks about the info-No 120 on this pumpkin!
Have a super weekend-Ghettoboom777. Smile Razz

Hi Ira-Only d or c cells(4 pack container like in back of a cheap boombox-plastic holder that holds like 4d or c cells.)-no problem!
I keep everything electrical taped but moisture is a concern but if you tape the connections up good it should be no problem!
Thanks for your advice on this-It might just have good acoustics or maybe do much dampening!! Laugh Out Loud
This will be fun!
Have a great one-Ghettoboom777. Smile

ghettoboom777 - 2008-10-27 09:11

That's not to bad of an idea but I'm not sure I want the egg in the pumpkin for a pumpkin egg collaboration.
I think I'll need too big of pumpkin for that.

By the way I had an egg fall on the floor last night right after I fixed it all up Laugh Out Loud.
It's a Lennox Sound am-fm-c.d./casst. box that I had just taken apart and cleaned up the cassette mechanisms-fun for practice and it was only 1.00!! Works mint now!
But I heard a thump and the poor egg got a dented speaker grill so I just put the paperclip and pulled it straigth and fixed it by putting it in around the front of the grill and it fixed almost mint again so I saved the egg! Laugh Out Loud
Oh well-I think with that mixture I would get a corroded and spoiled egg. Roll Eyes
I have to go-I'll let you know-I'm picking up my pumpkin today and starting in on it tonight.
Have a great one-G Smile Razzhettoboom777.

It's coming along nicely!
I have it carved.and I have a speaker for the right ear-have to do the left ear next!.
I also have a car turn signal bulb with socket going into the bottom middle of the pumpkin.
Now I'm thinking that room is an issue so I will wire it from a super powerful Oritron boombox that's a 3 piece so I can run true stereo in this thing. Red Face Razz
I'll have it finished ny tonight!
I'll take photos also.
I'm putting christmas lights in the eyes and nose as I don't have any readilly available led's.
I'll let you know how it comes out!
Have a great Halloween-Ghettoboom777. Smile Laugh Out Loud

ghettoboom777 - 2008-10-30 17:07

Hi-It works!
I have a 12v car turn signal bulb W/socket (1157)dual element going into the bottom of the pumpkin.
I also have a 12v emblem light or side marker light (smaller) 1194 type going into the left eye opening.I have 4 brighness settings-single element or both elements on and 2amp or 6amp output of the Battery charger that I'm using for power.
I use the 2 amp fo now,

The speakers are hooked up to the boombox also-sound o.k. The speakers are the ears! Laugh Out Loud
I'll be playing Whodini's "Haunted House Of Rock" tomorrow night.
I'll post photos asap.
Happy Halloween-Ghettoboom777. Smile Nod Yes
