Woaaah! Eek
That´s real a strange and rare looking unit.
But it looks good! Nod Yes

Congrats to this 3piece "dinosaur". Razz

Looks about 1976-77 ? I guess Germany got shut out of the mass production era of Boombox's in the 80's. I'm also surprised more manufactures did't use side mounted speakers like the Sony CF-550A & 580, it really gives a better sense of stereo. In the early 70's my dad bought a huge grundig while2 we was in France with 4 speakers (don't know the model), but it was something. Wish I had it today ! Have not seen Another on the web ?

...not about the box but about the brand:

The brand JESKO was owned by:
TEC Technische Warenfabrikation und Vertriebs GmbH
Postfach Wiesbaden 5605
Rostocker Straße 6-8
Wiesbaden-Bierstadt

the name was changed later(mid 80`s?)
to:
Jesko Unterhaltungs-Elektronik GmbH
Rostocker Str. 8
65191 Wiesbaden

Two more trademarks were owned by them:
"TEC"(45 in the base)
and
"SOUND"(33 in the base)

But as far as I know this company doesn`t exist anymore...nevertheless it must have been alive at least till 1993 ,when the German zip-codes got 5 digits. Wink

"jeSko" was a German trademark, which came up in big malls from the KAUFRING,HORTEN,five-and-ten`s and department stores.Along with the cheapo brand "AROSO"(nowadays-IMPEX-Aroso)their sales range was totally similar:

car radios,
spare wipers,
makeup mirrors,
small electric fans,
magnetic thermometers,
extra lamps for 12v plugs,
back lights for rear windows,
bowl-speakers for rear shelfs,
useless lenses for rear windows,
a couple of portable cassette recorders,
"rallye"-plastic coverings for steering wheels,
.................and a lot of funny stuff more.... Wink

This one appeared in an auction more than 6 years ago,so it must be rare.I believe it is from 74-75. Congrats on this one!

Jens,

if you saw one of this 6 years ago it realy must be a rare unit. Thanks for the informations!

I know this Jesko-brand just from cheap, plastic-bboxes or walkmans - but this bbox is realy heavy and had a good production quality ...

Best wishes

About the label:

I own a old clock-radio, labeled as TEC-SOUND !
Were blasters sold under this bilabel too? Roll Eyes

viennasound - 2009-01-26 08:48

Here it is:

Like Jens said - TEC and SOUND produce Ghettoblaster - in the beginning their units where good quality, in the late 80's and 90's they just sold trash - those black plastic bombs with horrible sound ...

The TEC broshure of 1982 (with some nice bboxes!):

That´s right, tom.
Nice folder, very intersting.
I own some TEC and SOUND boxes.
The most beautiful i own, is the TEC4040:

But i have never seen a box with doublelabel TEC-SOUND. Confused

yes they `ve been sold too as "TEC sound".
only "Sound" and only "TEC".

viennasound - 2009-01-26 09:42

That´s what i wanted to know, thanks! Wink

yes,but that`s indeed weird, per EU ISO LAW defination by law liability and
law responsibility:
A manufacturer(Hersteller) is the Company who sells a unit.

The original physical manufacturer might be anywhere else on the world.

i own a Sound 4025 boombox. who made it? it's still working great, especially the tape deck still does its job good. radio reception is far above average. I would even say it blows away most other boomboxes i've heard so far...

arkay - 2009-01-27 02:14

I've seen a few "TEC" and "TECSound" boxes, but never a "TESKO" nor just "Sound" box, at least not any that I can recall.

Definitely looks like a well-made, early box, and undoubtedly rare. Quite a good catch there. Congratulations!

Just seen, that i own a TEC-SOUND box.
This poor speakerless 4050:

@Jens: Any pic how the speakers have looked like?

About the "unknown" in the base:

It´s a SOUND TC-100 ! Wink

I found it many years ago on the dump and used it long time as radio in the working area. Self designed. Big Grin

It owns 4 wavebands.
