Boomin' right now...????

jt - 2008-01-26 17:55

Nothing dramatic to report.... but I am sitting on my patio with my laptop, a glass of wine, a cigar and my Sanyo M9990, listening to some tunes via the Digisette and trusty D batteries.

What box are you booming right now?

Ah... wonderful memories of S2G days gone by. Smile (Where is BoomBoxDeluxe when you really need him?)

Actually, the only box I'm boomin' tonight is my new Sangean HD radio, tuned to WWJ Newsradio 950 here in Detroit. Like they say, it makes AM sound like FM and FM sound like a CD. You haven't lived until you've heard Katie Couric's Notebook in Hi Def! Sends shivers down my spine!

jaredscottfla - 2008-01-26 19:30

Cool BB
I heard about that Sangean on Coast to coast with George Noory.
I like the look of that Radio.
Boomin right now Sharp Gf 7300 some Shortwave, and some Jazz mx

jt - 2008-01-26 19:50

Nice..!

Well, I turned off the Sanyo for the time being and hauled out the M-70 and poked around through the shortwave band. Pickings are slim on S/W tonight (raining and crap weather) but I did catch a station speaking Dutch a few minutes ago that came in pretty clear. After several minutes of not hearing any music on it, I had to give up on it, then a few minutes later I couldn't find it again.

So, I gave up on SW for now and dug up an old Maxell that has some of my favorite Fixx songs on it that I had been wanting to give a listen. I made that tape in 1989 and it still sounds awesome!

Man, there's nothing like the sound of decent boombox playing a well-recorded cassette! I love these things...!

Just giving the old minty 575 some TLC and a blast of 'Yah Mo Be There' (Jellybean Remix) and remembering why I love this box so much Cool

geoffhartwell - 2008-01-27 02:46

777 as its the only one out at mo, rest are in stogage.

I Agree 2steppa the 575 sounds awesome, your brave balancing it on there,

2steppa - 2008-01-27 02:54

@Geoff;
Yeah, just a random spot for a photo shoot and it caught some natural light which helped.

It was carrying a full load of 10 'd' cells which gave it a nice centre of gravity, but I still felt a bit nervous with it sitting there like that Eek

Blasted Al-Naafiysh on the 20/20 this morning while I got ready for work. Now that will get you HYPE for a good Friday

daiwa - 2008-02-01 08:22

Starting off the day with Nazareth, "All Nite Radio", pre-recorded from 1989, "...always be your whippin' boy"... Damn, I love Dan McCafferty's signature, rough, vocal quality. Get's the blud flowing blasting out of the BIG 935 on a Friday morn!

YES!!!

My Fisher PH-492 that I just picked up from my BBX repair guy yesterday... fully sorted!

Stuffed the speakers with even more 'performance foam' than they came with originally too!

Cranks and sounds just great!

The Cassette mech on these things sound every bit as good as the Line In or the Tuner!

Very few boxes in my collection can make that claim!

Oh... currently playing TAROT - 'CROWS FLY BLACK' via Line In from my MINT and fully restored JVC XL-V3 CD Player, build date May 1985 I picked up from my BBX repair guy yesterday too! I love it!!! Even had the original owners manual!
