Score or Bore?

Here's an interesting box I picked up a few months ago.  It's a Hitachi CX-G700W cassette/CD/radio/karaoke one-piecer.  This thing is fairly heavy, I was looking for the non-existant battery door thinking it still had 24 D-cells stuck in it.  Unfortunately it has a European Cord but I did briefly test it with an adapter and it seems to work great.

While the handle is missing (seems to just slide out the back), it does have inputs for "LD", and outputs for video and EXT.

Anybody know how the karaoke works, the output must be for lyrics maybe more?

That looks interesting.

Do you have a mic in to see if the audio overlays the cd/tape playback sound?

I'm guessing LD is LaserDisc.  What's the video output for?

Hitachi took a lot of risks with their product development.  Do we know the date of this one.

Here's another weird offering from Hitachi...

Definitely a score, I remember seeing a few karaoke units  like this on display at Sam Ash in the 90's.

No build date on it but does look to be early 90's.  There's also a set of "EXT CONTROLLER MAIN IN PRE OUT" RCA's on the back.  Pretty cool box, I'll have to find some karaoke discs and give it a real try.
