How many boomers can we list that have super anrs /dolby c??? wich imho was highly advanced for the ghettoblaster...

jvc m90/anrs/super anrs

jvc pc55 dolby b/c

sharp gx300 dolby b/c

Im not shure how many there are but ther's a start...I wonder how many there are especially with dolby/c...

I have some nice Sony FH/CFS models but just standard Dolby there.

Didn't realize the Sharp deck was so advanced...until now I thought it was just JVC!

Sorry for the late reply fins5 the gf300 is an underated box...mine is long gone like most of them but i recommend getting if you can...

More boxes with anrs super anrs

Jvc pc 11

jvc pc5

but on those 2 I dont quite see the point as there are no tweeters to benifit from it...

Fines5 alot of the sony fh series have dolby c on them..all the high end ones do...

What I find amazing there are quite an exstencive range of walkmans with dolby c but they diddn't start apearing till the 90's

The jvc pc55 came out in 83 and cost around £350 £400..

I diddn't realize till last night how much that was..but in about 91 I was only earning £150 a week...so £400 in 83 WOW but heck it was worth every penny since most of them are still working some 30 yrs later..

Couldn't agree more Radio Raheem. A solid unit all around.

Another question if I may (excuse this if it's drifting off topic) did any portable units come with DBX? A basic search turned up nothing but I do remember some walkman's in that era had it. I was wondering if it ever migrated to boomboxes?

Hi Radio Raheem,

It was a semi popular alternative to Dolby back in the 80's and early 90's. I think in some regards it was a more cost effective choice compared with the Dolby licensing.

There were quite a few home decks that offered this either in tandem with Dolby or exclusively without. I was unsure if it had worked it's way into mainstream boomboxes at the time..

Thanks brutas i thought it ma of had something to do with the radio side of things...but now i know...another dolby i havn't heard is dolby s

Only time I use Dolby is for classical music to reduce the hiss during quiet passages.  For all other music it just takes away too much treble.

radio.raheem - 2011-04-12 17:53

Yes you right reli...i never use dolby now...apart from my m90...i mod the dolby in such a way that when i use it..it boosts the treble...the whole dolby thing for me was (especially back in the day) a sighn of pure quality..especially with the high end dolby systems...dolby b never realy bothered me.. But having said that even if a radio diddn't have dolby b, back in the day i wouldn't buy it lol..
