does the motor run when any button is pressed...........if not...could be the motor fuse or the fusible resistor

Dave , there isn`t any movement or noise , like any power going through. The only thing I did notice was when I press the rew or ff or play the volume metre flickers with red lights like it would normally when you play tape or radio. If it is what you say , is it hard for someone like me who is a newbie to fix .

your gonna need a crash course in using a multimeter.....finding the fused resistor could prove difficult...then testing it with the meter is another thing....if you have no knowledge of electronics id get someone to fix it ...thats if you wanna fix it.....a lot of people have boxes with dead cassette decks and they just use the radio or line in....i have a few.....if you dont listen to tapes anymore, i wouldnt bother
