thats an awsom job dave,i've been waiting to see this resto..that looked pretty bad aswell, its an amaizing repair..even the speakers look great, just the right colour and they suit the box perfect,if i had a teeeeny weeeeny gripe,i say that the sub speakers need bigger dust caps, but its ok,you dont have to do it, i'll do that when it arrives

bison - 2011-08-13 13:12

great restoration dave, love the finished paint job it looks mint,

congrats

litfan - 2011-08-13 13:58

Whoa. You guy`s are putting some work into these restoration jobs. That`s unreal. Wished i`d have kept my 999. Still my fave from all the big gf`s.

ghettoman - 2011-08-13 14:29

Ritchard, you also had a GF1000,was'nt that your fave ? or was it the GF999 ?

if so explain mate, your opinion ?

i myself prefure the 999,i have no idea why it has such a hold on me,i do like the 1000 but i never wanted one,i always wanted the 999..i'm sure the 1000 is a nice radio but for me its the 999 every time..one of the major factors is that dodgy chrome panel,i'de crap myself if i had a 1000 and it started rotting/pitting,and lets face it,would only be a matter of time, its not if it starts going, its when..

litfan - 2011-08-13 14:33

Never liked the 1000 paul lad. It sounded good though.

litfan - 2011-08-13 14:38

I think i have said it before, but, that bombeat 40 is a mean thing. To say, there`s nothing inside it hardly, it packs a punch. I wonder what roddy has done with that champagne colour one i had?

ghettoman - 2011-08-13 14:44

The Bombeat 40 is turning out to be a rare beast, maybe it would have been a good idea if you would have kept that mate..you should have kept a few of you meaner boxes, you had alot of top grails richard..

litfan - 2011-08-13 14:56

Yep. A mate came to see me, a bit since. He likes these old boomers. He said, i have been trying for years to get a bombeat 40. I said, you are joking aren`t you, i had one. Well, you should have seen his face, when i showed him the pic`s. I was telling the bloke from toshiba about it. He had forgotten all about that one. very, very rare box. They didn`t make many, and, only for europe.

pioneer - 2011-08-13 15:16

Dave buddy for a minute there i had a flash back of the 80's film Christine but with a sharp gf-999.You've got my vote on this one that is surreal look's like it came that way from the get go......You Are Da Man   Such a thing of beauty    Outstanding job again dave.            PIONEER

brutus442 - 2011-08-13 15:19

Extrordinary restoration Dave. I agree with PIONEER. This is a "Christine" like re-birth.

A credit to your skills Dave...top notch!

davebush - 2011-08-13 15:26

thanks for the votes guys............paul...they are actually pioneer speakers and they were the only ones i could find after trawling the web for days...the centre caps were actually silver with pioneer written on them.........a touch of black paint and hey presto

radio.raheem - 2011-08-13 15:58

Great job dave... i saw the state of that 1 on ebay...all that's left for you is the 1000...congrats mate

Excellent restoration job Davebush, that box was in pretty bad shape.

davebush - 2011-08-14 05:07
