im looking for units under $500 based on quality. I use my units every day!!!

- 2011-08-20 06:57

How do you use them? Your Boombox's every day?

You are - ( looking for units under $500 based on quality ) well, you are limiting yourself to a number - Good luck with that. You may be looking for a long time...

How long are you gonna live untill you finally get your 'perfect' boombox?

We didn't limit ourselves to a number, however "WE" did in the past;  Get Caught up in the Hoopla of the LOT's of Text Written - About Various Brands and Model's of Boombox's and Then Proceeded to buy every-one of those model, yakked about online to discover that some of the statement's made were correct & other's were way blown out of proportion; ( little box = Big sound )

Really now how can the Laws of physic's be defeated??? of course the "other Limiting factore was/is that there was No Way to Listen to these Boombox's via the internet - cause there was limited  video's on this subject - therefore we Started producing them video's  - cause nobody else would or did have any really good video's out there ( we Thought)

The best way to BEST understand just What these Sound like is to hear them in person with your own Ears not just reading somebodys ' bit o text ' online somewhere... but if they are old and no longer sold how can you hear them unless somebody put's a music video of what ever box out there on the web to share in the sound that these can
produce and the source had better be coming from the cassette actually in the box
cause we all KNOW that if the unit has line in that that sound can be better sounding cause it is a Cleaned-up Sound digitally but Not the original sound as it was recorded originally - think about that !

So the video's that are out there of the unit playing a " Ipid " or whatever ditigal device is simply Not a true representative of what the box was originally designed to produce sound from their own built in
source - we'll pass on those video's... it has Gotta Be A Cassette Playing and or the Radio as Nothing
else counts.

In the past "here" there was 'NO' Number... So now we have quite a few of 'these Boombox's' We have made our selections based upon the ability to listen to all of them, and our Needs, requirement's, and useability, longevity, ability to obtain repair parts, service parts, maintenance parts ie: Belts, motors, speakers...

How well these sound, in the environment that we live. yes we understand that the JVC (Victor) RC-550 is not the higest fidelity Boombox out there - heck it is NOT even STEREO but then - is a LIVE Concert Played in Stereo??? playing back that Artist's music outside??? Can you REALLY hear the Stereo effect more than 20 feet away from your boombox outside??? Do people really care about the stereo effect "" OutSide "" NOPE !!!  but this RC-550 sure is LOUD and maybe even Obnoxious LOL... Efficiency of how long lasting on batteries - Cause these are Portable! and the effect of Visual and Sound impact upon the Young people, around us LOL ... Like what is that? Oldskool and the like...

Here is the Backside of me With my EveryDay & EveryWhere Carry Leetle boombox... hint - it's a Victor ...
Here i am, as i am deciding upon which vehicle to go with depending upon what my needs are for what I am fixin' to do.. do I need the Dodge? Scion Xb? or a Motorcycle... or am I just gonna walk around forcing those! nearby with them;  tinny sounding rectangular cell-phone things playing music.. to NOT be able to hear  their leetle thingy's till am far away

Well we have had fun writing this, this morning.
Good Luck in your search

I may be new to this forum but not a newbie to boomboxes!! $500 for a good m70 is easy to find i have had 7 in the past 6 months and have paid under $350 for each. I got one for as low as $135. A new boombox in its original packing is like a new car. Open it and it depreciates!! I listen to my boomboxes. I rotate them around the house. I may listen to one at the park, while watching a movie on my Mac. My wife has one for her sewing room. One is connected to my plazmas in each room and i have a cleanin/storage area for ones not in use at the time. I also use cassettes MA R90 tdk metal. I record with my m70 m90 or 5350 and play on any boombox!! I have had boomboxes since the 70s a jvc 838, sanyo m9990,4 and 8 with mic's i could go on. In the 80's i carried my JVC-RCM70 every day to school in my red JVC bag!! I have the 550 656 rcm60,80 sanyo big ben just to name a few. If i gave someone $4000 for a m70 it would be gold plated and signed by Elvis!!

Everyones list of must-haves are different. I have different must-haves for different purposes. For inside listening at moderate volumes my favorites are-Sanyo M-X920, Sanyo M9994K, Prosonic 9962, Sony FH 207, Sharp GF 800 and Panasonic DT 680. For outdoor listening at louder volumes I use my JVC M90 and M70 exclusively. They have the best sound and lowest distortion at high volume and their sound carries very well outdoors. My Rising SRC 2015 gets an honorable mention for indoor use because it has very good sound at lower volume but lacks high end punch. My Kaboom gets an honorable mention for outdoor use because it is a big hit at pool parties with it's awesome bass reproduction and I use it in tandem with my M90 for a perfect blend of low end bass and high end clarity. Although I have over 30 boomboxes about 10 get regular everyday use and I carry a boombox to the basketball court daily so my M70's and my M90 get LOTS of use.
