Kitchen radio.

litfan - 2011-08-18 11:51

Just got one of these, cheap, off ebay, to use in the kitchen. I`m surprised, how good it sounds. It`s a CFD-E100.24792048-260x260-0-0_boomboxes+sony+cfd+e100

litfan - 2011-08-18 11:52

Sorry. Can`t figure out the picture adding feature.

sega - 2011-08-18 12:04

We dont have one as my mum isnt one for listening to the radio but my grandmother uses a Sony box that looks abot 10 years old, cant say I think much of the sound quality but atleast it keeps her happy.

radio.raheem - 2011-08-18 12:18

Couldn't get the quote thing to work....Have you lost the plot Lit???

bison - 2011-08-18 12:21

dont these things have cd on one side tape on the other, thought they were cool in a quirky way.

litfan - 2011-08-18 14:06

Lost the plot lad? totally. Yeah, it has a tape on one side. It reminds me of a little grundig RR400, i got on a flea market for £2, about 10 years ago. That little thing sounded amazing.

ghettoman - 2011-08-18 15:36

come on richard,i thought you would have had a better one than that in your kitchen, how about a pana cobra ? they are way nicer than these mate..and the cobra is fully remote..

litfan - 2011-08-19 11:08

Very true paul lad, but, would a cobra go on top of the fridge?

litfan - 2011-08-19 11:34

I`ll tell ya summat paul. The sound of this thing, has shocked me. For the price, you can`t whack it.

ghettoman - 2011-08-19 14:35

Ahhh i did'nt know you had the box on the fridge, thought you put it on your kitchen worktop,i dont think a cobra would fit on top et fridge

litfan - 2011-08-19 14:45

The one it replaced, was, wait for it, an ALBA. Now, we had a 50`s radiogram, that was an alba, and, it was a good piece of kit. The cd/radio, puh. Still remember, swapping the vaves round in the alba, when i was a kid, and blowwing it up . Oops.

litfan - 2011-08-19 14:48

There i was, bent down behind the radiogram. Swapped some tubes round, BANG. When i got up, i looked like a black & white minstrel.

sega - 2011-08-20 07:28

I got visions of that happening and nearly fell on the floor laughing, mind you I did a similar thing with a PC and I was bloody amazed when it worked afterwards.

litfan - 2011-08-20 08:10

Interesting, but, could you sing "mammy" afterwards? Eh.

sega - 2011-08-20 08:26

Sadly no, I breathed a bit of the smoke in and was coughing and spluttering, Just about managed to yell for my dad as the PC was still smouldering.

litfan - 2011-08-20 08:28

Were you "burning" a cd at the time?

sega - 2011-08-20 13:38

Nope, I was installing memory and it didnt seat quite right so it shorted and caught fire.

When the smoke cleared the memory was fried as was the port but other than that it was fine for the next six months until it started to fail of other causes.

litfan - 2011-08-20 14:09

Fried memory eh? This is sounding strangely familiar.

Join the club lad. Ive just bought a sony D20 pcdp. Cant see it being as good as my panasonic SL-SX500. We`ll see. Don`t think they had the same anti-shock back then. You can drop the pana, it don`t flinch. Turn the anti-shock off, and, you only have to twitch and it skips.

radio.raheem - 2011-08-20 14:53

dougie - 2011-08-25 18:18

Nice little Sony ya got there Lit. Looks like Walkgirl has some handy tips in that video she posted...care should be taken in the kitchen so as not to catch your box on fire, or handy ways to keep your kitchen box batteries charged.
