Last year a topic about Staar SA has been posted. This Belgian company created in 1912 has just ceased its activities. I salvaged some of audio, video, laser reader-recorder prototypes which has been used by the biggest European, American and Japanese electronic companies in their commercial productions.  If someone is interested to buy these prototypes that I saved, he may contact me to get pictures. Most of these prototypes are placed into display transparent plexi box. Most of them don't play. Only the patented part mecanism displayed plays. You can find now these mecanisms into the electronic devices that you use everyday.

I'm new on this forum. I ve signed in because I was hanging out on the web and searched staar SA on the Web. This company was created by my great grand father. My grand father (mother side) took the lead and transform the company in a r&d in mechanics. In the '70 my dad (engineer from ENAC) came in the company and took its lead in the '80s. He continued the R&D but in the micro mechanic and electro mechanic. Unfortunately, the company ended its activities a few years ago. My brothers and I weren't able to take it.

If they owned patents on cassette drives, their revenues will have been gong down from that as less & less equipment sold today has a tape deck...

I don't offer anything! I saw this post and saw that someone was talking about prototypes done by Staar SA. I might have played with those protos before my dad and my grandfather presented them to producers or electronic brands.

Staar SA started by importing Jukeboxes, washing machines,... from the US (my great grandfather). My maternal grandfather continued importing stuff from the US. With his father he developed devices based on imported products (increasing reliability, adding functions, ...). After that, they decided to do everything on their own. So they hired people to manufacture products from A to Z. When my great grandfather passed away, my grandfather developed his activities. He stopped manufacturing products and focused on create devices to increase functions,... Then, he patented them and rent or sold patents to brands. By the end of the '60S, my dad met my mom. He was studding engineering (ENAC) and did a traineeship at Staar SA. He left for his military obligations and came back right after them (beginning of the '70S). With my grandfather he specialized Staar SA in micro mechanics and electro mechanics devices. Same plan: make patents, prototypes, presenting the patent through prototypes and try to rend or sale the patents. They patented devices for tape, CD, DVD, water economizer,...

I can give you more details but you have to tell me for which part 'cause each one is a long story!
