Well Number 3 has arrived

sega - 2011-08-30 07:35

My Crown has arrived from Austria and has made it in the condition it left it

It is a CSC 950F and its a bit beaten up, theres no photos yet as Im trying to carefully remove my aerosmith tape from its deck as it felt peckish after its long trip.

Theres a list of parts if needs which doesnt help the matter of being broke atm after stocking up on fish supplies and replacing the MSX. Its bigger than the Hitachi but I cant say if it sounds any better atm as it ate the tape after about 3 seconds and jammed up completely, Ive not got the radio going yet as theres not even a peg stuck out of the tuner, thats something I may bodge to test.

Visiually nothing else is missing, the glass over the tuning strip is cracked and will need replacing.

Pics soon when Ive sorted the tape

Ok no pics yet as Ive got to glue a few parts but so far heres its list of faults:

Belt faliure for play and FF

Mild interfearence, proberly just dirt

Busted glass on the tuner panel

No life from the tuner

Aireals are both loose

Didnt get anything when I plugged into mic

Missing tuner dial, where it attaches may possibly be broken too

Broken switch (glueing this in a minute)

tweeters are loose (also glueing)

Scuff on the top, Ive ran out of stickers

I havent got anything to hand to test phono unless I get the NES out and plug sound into one of the phono ports.

It also smells like old Cabbages for some reason, proberly means its been in storage for a long time, Ive yet to test battery power too as it has a voltage switch so this one could feasbly travel the world without a problem, that is if I can fix all its faults.

Thanks bison.

Well its back together and theres more bad news, phono isnt working either.

The head on the cassette is fine however as I used an adapter plugged into my phone and it belted out some Offspring with all speakers and both VU's going nicely.

The aireals have been tightened and I found both bent, one really bad and the other mild, I have bent them back abit but I dont see so well without my glasses so Ill finish it later.

The basic stuff I recokon Ill manage but the non-functional electronics may be better intrusted to somone more experianced, until then heres a few quick snaps of how it stands now.

congrats sega lad...whats up with the electronics mate...maybe post a topic in the tech section...What do you think of the sound??i have one but its totally different from yours, and sounds damn good for what it is...

Nothing happens when you switch to radio or phono, no static or anything.

Sound was good, I cant say how it truley was as the front was off so you it wasnt set that high due to the vibrations, I may test it again later now its back together.

Thanks, I just hope I can restore it to full working order, I also need to clean up some of the cosmetics as I noticed in the sunlight that it is very nicotine stained.

Hooked it up to the laptop with the cassette adapter and it sounds awesome.

Im prized prat of the year, the radio does work, for some strange reason you have to press play on the tape deck to turn it on, cant test phono atm as theres nothing downstairs that uses that connection
