subbo - 2011-10-11 04:00

I have an m80 my only boombox, and it was'nt working properly, tape deck dead, and newspaper stuffed in the back holding some of the poor soldering down so sound would come out of both speakers after a conversation with my bro/superflyguy, who contacted docs/dave, to come over and pick it up and have a look inside over the weekend. dave had a look inside and txt me the next day to tell me the m80 was fully working again i was over the moon!! so i big thanks to dave for his work on my m80, what a guy, thanks dave!! I will add what was the problems with it when i see dave next weekend and post some pics up

Yeah. Nice to hear that 2-motor deck clunking into action. Funny thing about the m80. If i used to go upstairs for a nap. I alway`s played an m80, as, the auto-stop, was guaranteed to wake me up, THUNK.

the deck was not working when lav-loo sold it to you, not sure if you fixed it? it may of been the shipping that knacked it up mate

litfan - 2011-10-12 12:04

Only needs a bit of old grease, in them 2-motor decks, and, it won`t work.

may be easy for belts but once I opened the back of this unit and discovered the degree of looks like difficulty to get to the belts I stopped as it looks like all of the pcb's have to come out to 'get' to the belts, I didnt go any further, an put it back together

LL, thanks for the reply and I hope you are okay. Take it easy buddy.

James, the front and the rear come apart and must be taken off, being ultra careful of one or two connectors to the rear section and the front section.

Once those are clear, the rear circuit board needs to have the screws removed so it can be moved carefully to the side a little being ultra careful that the white cable is disconnected from the PCB that connects to the PCB on the rear of the deck underneath the large rear PCB. These connectors just slide off as they are very similar to antenna connectors.

Once you have done that you now have access to the tape deck from the front to remove the screws and take out the deck. There are a couple of larger connectors to the deck and the main PCB which need to be disconnected before trying to remove the deck.

All in all, I would rate it on a 6/10 difficulty to remove the deck just needs a little care with the connectors.

Hope that helps.

Glad I could help.
