That's a very good point cheers, got a couple of beaters I could choose from, got a well used and classic looking gf8989 that would do the trick . . .

Yes guys, I made it. As promised

Was an awesome evening, not often can you find Don Letts playing great tunes, The Boombox Project + it's creator and all you can drink free beer in one room but that's pretty much how it went down at the Whisper Gallery a couple of weeks ago.

Been well busy so couldn't hop on to let you know how it went but thought I'd give you this brief post and a couple of pics. Basically I knew I wanted to take a box with me so hiked through London with my beaten but fully working 8989 playing old cassettes with my mate. Turns out I was the only collector to turn up on the night with a boombox but it went down really well and people were loving the humble Sharp - Great conversation starter with people who hadn't seen a ghettoblaster or listened to cassettes for years. Wish I had taken something bigger than the 8989 though

Pics from the night;

Lyle's a pretty cool guy, I did pass on your hello redbenjoe and he was pretty stoked about that. Got him to sign the book and now I've got an extra boombox in mine!;

Good times, it's kinda got me fired up about boomboxes again because I haven't bought anything for a while, might do some shopping in the New Year and see if I can score me some JVC's or a nice Lasonic

redbenjoe - 2011-12-19 14:30

GREAT news --thanks for the cool shots ...

lyle is helping to spread the boombox joy --wordwide - YES !!!

bison - 2011-12-19 14:42

top post KND,wish i couldve got down there,

looks like you guys had a good night.

that lyle autograph is top mate!

kennedy - 2011-12-22 09:09

No problem guys, glad to be of help and always proud to represent S2G anytime I can

I know we've all seen Lyle's pics in the book but up close they are really cool, loads of details that you don't see so small, would have liked to have bought one for my studio room at home but couldn't really stretch to it . . .

Should be popular though, the gallery is in a busy spot and there are 2 huge welcoming prints in the window; Awesome M90  and Panasonic RX-5350

Forgot to say, Lyle sent his best to Fatdog as well as you Ira, which of the boxes in the book are owned by you guys?

hi kennedy - i lent my book to another member -

so - not sure which ones or how many -

but there are prolly a few dozen of ours - at least -

what lyle did was --to visit a florida member meet -

we had about 15 members and a maybe 200 boxes there !!

he brought 2 assistant photographers -

and a full truckload of special tables, jigs , lighting

and lots of lenses and other equipment -

they were shooting for almost 10 hours !!

lots of hard work -

and as you saw --fantastic results
