GE 3-5267A

Well I have the model 3-5267A pictured below. Its had its fair share of bad connections I've repaired over the years but I use it every day all day long. I even fall to sleep with the radio or tape playing. I never had the original speakers but it kicks butt with the ones I'm using it with.

This is my beater. I just finished getting it back together installing a new bulb in place of the burnt out one for the FM display, new belts and cleaned the control knobs. Parts are hard to find (at least for this model).

This is my favorite stereo to play at home mainly because of the Music Location System for the tape deck. Also the Aux input works well for when modern technology is required.

Over all my opinion of the Vintage GE boombox is a good one. A few minor connection issues along the way but its a 82 model so I'm not complaining. It's held up quite well and sound quality is really good. You can tell they were putting more effort into them back in the day. Not sure how well the value holds up over time.

Very nice, and probably rare too. I've never seen that one before, and I'm a bit of a GE nut.

I appreciate it. I'm going to keep playing this stereo until nothing works and then keep it on the "not working but rare" shelf in my home.... As long as parts can be ordered, she'll be playing every day in my house.

I ordered a Lasonic i931x online. I always wanted the original TRC version but they were too expensive then and now for my wallet. It came via FedEX yesterday. I was never so disappointed in my life. No Bass or Treble Control. Only EQ buttons. Sound quality was lacking greatly. Those huge speakers sure had me fooled. Might have been because the top left Tweeter wasn't working. The volume knob fell off when I went to adjust the volume and you had to stand next to it pointing to the ceiling while clutching the antenna with the other hand to pick up radio stations. I have requested a replacement since one of the speakers wasn't working. It looks cool and it functions with modern technology but that's all I give it. My old GE here has held up better after 30 years than this did right out of the box.

Just goes to prove they don't make em like they used to.

Unless they've changed it the bass and treble can be ajusted through the "menu" button (blue one on the far left).

I stand corrected. You are right. I still have the defective unit so I pulled it out of the box and tried all of the features. I have to box it up because the replacement will be here Friday. Sure hope nothing else goes wrong. Im at the point to where if the other one doesnt work Ill swap parts between the two until I get one good working stereo...lol
