Sharp GF777

I got this one last year from one of the sellers from China on Ebay. I didn't pay the buy it now price. Once in a while on the auctions these sell for $300-400. Thats what I paid. Cosmetically the unit is as advertised. Appears near mint. The radio and cassette and line in work well. But the sound quality is quite bad. Ive never had one of these before to compare, but it sounds much worse than my M70. On taking a closer look it certainly looks like the speakers are not good. at least a couple are blown. God knows if the interior is true Sharp GF777 parts or something else added to a GF777 case. Took it to a repair shop, and after a month they said they cannot fix it. Any thoughts from members here?

have you tried a bit of deoxit on the controls...it could help and its a start.....cleaning the cassette deck,...perhaps it needs a azimuth tuning...you could also try and replacing the speakers....a few members have done it on here...i would see first which kinds they've used before doing so...

Open it up and take a picture and post it up, I can then tell you if it's got the right guts in it or if its fake!

I just bought one from the same seller I'm sure... got it for around $425+220 = $645 shipped... same description as yours, I hope mine is real too... as far as replacing the speakers does anyone here have suggestions what would be good subs and two-ways to buy ? if you can specify what models and sizes that would be awesome... would love to tinker around with mine to see if i can bring it to top performance...
