My lovely m70, has been stood idle, for over a year now. Only time, it has been moved, was when chris (deliverance), came to our house. I decided to try it, while i was working on the toshiba. I shouldn`t have worried, it works, sounds perfect. The loudness switch, makes a BIG difference to the sound of the 70. Great box. Deserves it`s standing.

The M70 is one of the few boxes I have with me here in France and every now and then I plug them in for a sneaky listen.  Over time they're all developing minor faults but the M70 fires up every time.  It's like an old VW golf.

Have you ever been to la boulle cris?

Ha, yeah, i have as a matter of fact.  When students we saw how far we could hitch-hike and we got as far as La Boulle, Pornichet to be exact.  Ran out of cash and ended up stealing from shops until some French students felt sorry for us and fed us.

Not sure geoff.....the m70 never impressed me....yea sure its loud....but most boxes are....the lack of a proper deck no Dolby.....and the lack of decent bass....there were plenty on boomboxery who didn't like the m70 ether.....but if it keeps one happy....whom am i to argue

Personally, i wouldn`t listen to anything said on that site. Stick the loudness switch on, and, your away. My brother, who`s an electrical engineer, say`s, the amps in the m70, are top quality. Deck is too, with SA heads.

yup has the same heads as an m90 scrapped one yrs ago....diddn't even try it...as it had new heads which i used on my m90....but like you have said yourself lit you dont like to much bass...so im sure the m70 fits nicely in for you lad

I've never owned one Reno, so I have nothing to compare it against, but that said the M70 does have a following..

no bass on a m70!!! need your ears testing....there's plenty of punch on a m70,no mid size box touches it!

What they need to remember......and i can't speak from personal experience...but hell i don't even know how you function like you do after your brain opp......you deserve a medal....if they can't deal with that then screw em......my best mate Tim had the same trouble as you....and your sti'll here....i saw what it did to him.....hate to say this rich....and i hope you don't mind me saying so.....but if they haven't got the intellect patience..or kindness to deal with you then screw em......like i say i have seen it......as you know you're fucking lucky to be here bro.... at least you're not jimmy savville.....fucking pervert

One does SM. The toshiba rt-s931/2. I love listening to this thing. I have bass, way down though, gets a bit overpowering.

in my opinion the d8614 sounds better than the m70 and their both midsizers

Actually arron to be fair the phillips actually does sound better than the m70.....at least i was way more impressed with it.......but then mine only cost a 10nner compaired to the stupid prices m70's go for......another box that used to go for 50 quid....and to be honest that's all there worth imho.....least the phillips has a propper deck...and i think dolby

never seen one in the flesh lit but they do look like they can thump!

an 8614 isnt in the same league as an m70 in every aspect,i have both here and the m70 knocks the philips into a cocked hat

Like i said the m90 only just has enough bass for me....the m70 maybe better than the phillips not sure lads......dump'd the phillips and the m70 is going soon......sombody want to send me another m70 for a sound test i'll gladly audition it for you guys....and give my honest opinion... lee hurry up and phone us lad....i want to get this bee out my bonnet and you may own my crown 970

looks like iv'e found a friend to back me up in the philips department (Reno)

also looks like i'm being toasted by the m70 fans, i have had both and compared but the m70 i had was a sorry state, we all have our faves eh

think il'e leave it at that now, as i think i'm gonna dig myself a very deep hole lol

i have dug myself a bigger hole arron....but i have never liked the m70....that's why i havn't bothered fixing mine....the m70 may be better than the phillips but atleast the phillips looks good hehe

the m70 is defo better build quality without a doubt, but that's all it has in my opinion it's quiet ugly looking, the philips defo wins in the looks department Reno

yup the m70 is fugly come to that so is the m90......least the m90 can hold it's own to a certain degree....the only thing that gets me about the m90 it's gray it looks like something out of doctor who....check out k9 same colour as the m90....the m90 just doesn't fit in any decade...least the m70 does have an 80's look and feel about it

i think the philips is trying to look like a three piece,i dont know where you guys get an m70 is ugly from..it looks badass

I have a sweet sounding M70 and love its looks. The sound quality is amazing- Taste differs I guess. And when it comes to boomboxes I am happy with the level of bass you get from the M70. Otherwise it starts sounding too boomy and you lose mid range quality. The mid range vocal quality on the M70 is real nice. 

i take everything back iv'e said about the m70, it surely must be something special, i'm starting to warm towards em now

nothing wrong with the 8614 az i think its a looker but the m70 takes it.

if you end up with my 8614 i will be looking to replace it
