my missus has something like that in her top draw!

deliverance - 2012-11-10 05:46

how rude

samovar - 2012-11-10 05:54

so you think that the specimen here is a member of the Hitachi tribe?

lisa_hitachi

samovar - 2012-11-10 06:04

well you got it (almost) right:

Hitachi_TRK-9140E

Hitachi TRK-9140 E

@deliverance very well done, but you know, quizzes have one and only answer... just joking, you got the right answer even before i asked the question!

@Lav Loo well done too, you got the tribe right

@stereo mad i wonder how a beast like this fits in any top draw...

congratulations to all, next time i'll try to make it a real challenge

stereo.mad - 2012-11-10 06:08

seen a few on the bay......how do they sound sal?

does'nt say much for you then Lee ha ha sorry i could'nt resist

samovar - 2012-11-10 06:15

mine has a wonderful voice: excellent bass, loud and clear, i use it with my ipod because there's almost no distortion even at top volume. i was lucky to find it from a private in excellent technical conditions and fully working (the tape deck is super!). it is also a very solid machine: it weighs a ton, no trash plastic. deech has one and he likes it a lot. i wonder what deliverance thinks of his.

deech - 2012-11-10 07:52

Yes a Hitachi - TRK 9150W .

Sounds incredible!

Looks average for my taste,

weighs a ton and i have to admit that its a quality box!!

deliverance - 2012-11-10 07:54

i have to agree with the above they are heavy and loud .

samovar - 2012-11-18 07:44

hi all,

last week the sunday quiz was solved in less than no time. surely because i posted it on saturday? whatever the case, today i'm gonna make it a bit harder. at least mmcodomino and deliverance will have to think more than 5 minutes before they solve it. here we go

evidence n. 1

dolby

evidence n. 2

voltage

samovar - 2012-11-18 08:09

so much info in so small pics, yet so far no answer

evidence n. 3

deech - 2012-11-18 08:24

lav.loo - 2012-11-18 09:19

samovar - 2012-11-18 10:39

you'r right guys, and i have to apologize for the long absence. an unexpected problem (now solved) kept me away from the screen - from home, actually. more clues:

and no, it's not a tosh -no hitachi either

samovar - 2012-11-18 11:27

ok, i owe you one. so i give away no less than the keys...

evidence n. 6

keys

...and the knobs:

evidence n. 7

knobs

this should help identifying at least the family

deliverance - 2012-11-18 11:44

philips ?

samovar - 2012-11-18 11:58

no philips --otherwise Lav should have already got it the brand is famous, the box not that much. time for serious evidence:

evidence n. 8

litfan - 2012-11-19 14:05

Looking at those knobs, it look`s like some sort of sanyo?

yes, it's a sanyo. more this evening.

lav.loo - 2012-11-20 03:42

the knobs and led meter give away it being a sanyo, the led's look like the m9935k's but the knobs look like the m7900's??

so it can't be either of the 2 mentioned above, therefore i'm still stuck

and yes Samovar your right about the philips lol

samovar - 2012-11-20 10:22

Oh heck. I `ll have to use the knowledge, i have picked up, over the years. It`s an M9880. .

well done!

sanyo_9880

it's a Sanyo M9880K A. congratulations Litfan, that was not at all an easy one.

litfan - 2012-11-20 14:18

I`m betting, it sounds nice?

deliverance - 2012-11-20 14:19

 show off !

litfan - 2012-11-20 14:24

Well, when you`ve been around since noah`s ark, like me chris lad, you pick up these things

samovar - 2012-11-20 14:25

i picked it up at the flea market, then spent the weekend cleaning it up. unfortunately it doesn't work, so i need to have it serviced before i know. it looks nice though

deliverance - 2012-11-20 14:27

yep you have been at this lark for while for sure rich .

litfan - 2012-11-20 14:34

It came in handy though chris. I learn`t all the repair quirks of various boxes. Are the belts, typical sanyo "hard to fit?". It`s taking me ages to type, coz, i`m using the siemens tablet comp, which has a stylus .

deech - 2012-11-21 10:46

great find sal!!!

also a very difficult quiz! only for the experienced

lav.loo - 2012-11-21 10:56

nice box Samovar, next time can you make it a tad easier for us apprentices lol

deech - 2012-11-21 11:02

i was searching all over shizaudio for sanyo and it had 849 models.

I recognized it was a sanyo from the vu leds and i tried to spot which sanyo below its vu led meter had a balance knob but couldnt find any.

ha ha that's how i tried to do it too Deech, only i looked on stereo80s.com and not shizaudio, unfortunately my search was fruitless too

samovar - 2012-11-21 11:24

hi guys, i promise that my next quiz will be easier  this time it took a super-pro (Litfan) to solve it, but i made it so tough only because last week deliverance had solved it in just 2 (two!) minutes

deech - 2012-11-21 11:26

Lav i think that our condition is pretty much serious!

Because that shows how much we wanted to find the solution to sals quiz!

I was like what??? the first evidence pics he posted not even the most experienced, not even chuck norris could find which box was it!

Will have to give credits to Litfan!!!

lav.loo - 2012-11-21 11:29

well i can only hope that the next box is a philips or i'm stuffed lol

samovar - 2012-11-21 11:35

admittedly the firt clues were not of much help. yet they were not completely pointless. for instance, reading that voltage had been set at 120 could have suggested a japanese box, and the presence of dolby that it was not a late 70s one  i don't know you guys, but i like the sherlock holmes approach

(..next won't be neither a philips nor a daewoo Lav, so you'll have to study...

lav.loo - 2012-11-21 11:47

ha ha well next time i'm going to examine the box thoroughly, on that note il'e be eagerly awaiting sundays post

litfan - 2012-11-21 12:47

Come on guy`s. You are giving me more credit, than i deserve. It`s just one of those things, you know, or, you don`t.

samovar - 2012-11-25 02:45

hi folks, today's quiz has a special section for Lav Loo. so Lav, this is for you & only you to solve

lav.loo - 2012-11-25 04:34
