Great story Lav. I'm sure Andyboombox was sorry to see it go, but it went to a good home.

that's a nice one Andy and pretty rare too, thought your wilco or conic may have featured instead tbh, still the silver is a sweet looking box

bison - 2012-11-30 13:13

not really into 3 peicers az but this one is a keeper, great sound as you would expect from a three peice box and its nice and heavy and built well..apart from the clumsy handle

deliverance - 2012-11-30 13:21

nice box andy, the daewoo is a beaut to i just wish she had bigger jugs/cones.

litfan - 2012-11-30 13:29

Bison, I do like the look of that one. Although the one piece boxes are often seen as more collectable, it's the three part jobbies that do it for me, like certain Philips and Panny's

Awesome rarity's men never seen such beasty's!   Well I just received 2 days ago something I think no other member in world has or seen before.  The HITACHI

TRK-6700H  is a very rare 6 speaker (only mini with 3 way speaker system) SUPER MINI BOOMER.   It came in a titanium color but I have a striking deeper RED almost burgundy that actually has a metallic mix but hard to catch in a photo.  After days of searching not a single photo of this model in RED or on any forum in any color other than Titanium.   IT is one amazing sounding machine.  Also appears in excellent condition and love the LED meter.  For a small box this has ALL the Features of big boys even LOUDNESS switch!

I present to the world one of my two rarest Boomboxes ( sorry guys just got started collecting BBX's and the larger ones right now are priced crazy high so no big boys).

Ira your too kind and thank you for compliment on the mini's.  I had the pleasure of seeing Ira's IMMENSE amazing BBX collection and listening to many many fine examples of all sizes and brands.  Better than a boy in a candy store I tell you.  We had a grand time.  How would not with literally WALL to WALL Floor to Cieling  and tables covered with Boomboxes.. WOW.

johnedward - 2012-11-30 21:15

I recently fell upon this on evilBay and no one else bid on it.. WHAT LUCK   Seems on Boomboxery no one ever seen or know of one.   Very detailed topic there

http://www.boomboxery.com/foru...php?f=16&t=17549

Presenting the AKAI PM-06 micro boomer ( think that would be correct since it is definitely smaller than a mini such as Sanyo M-GT7 see picture it is next too and next to my Panasonic RX-DS650). It is a four piece unit that is built heavy like a TANK.. truly it weighs 4 Pounds ( 1.8 kilograms) and 5 pounds ( 2.3 kilograms) with 4 C batteries and 4 AA batteries. Walkman and Speakers boxes are surprisingly heavy. Measures 16 X 4 X 3 inches ( L H D) 6.3 X 1.6 X 1.2 cm. Unit separates with very well built metal clamps ( unique entire top of center main unit lifts "UP" locking the entire length of the detachable Walkman ( ok I must admit the "WALKMAN" made me buy it
MAIN UNIT AM-06
SPEAKERS SW-06
WALKMAN PM-06 with FM-06 FM Tuner Cassette

It has a 13 inch telescoping antenna and openings on ends of speakers for a shoulder strap which I sadly do not have. This little tank has 2 watts at .5% distortion which for its size I think is very respectable. 70 - 15,000 kHz freq. response. Features separate BASS and TREBLE controls, Dolby B that circuitry is in main unit not Walkman. I believe this unit is made in 1980 as it has the identical head part number and exact mechanics in Walkman as first AKAI WALKMAN the PM-01 (pictured later) that came out in 1980/81. L & R Volume sliders, metal/norm switch, TALK with built in mic to use system as PA type system (odd :hmmm: , Twin headphone jacks both on main unit and side of Walkman. FM tuned in light and Tape operation light. Speakers detach with 5 foot of cord that a push of button quickly and strongly rewinds wire back into speaker ( very cool feature :-D . Unit is in near mint condition except for one bad bottom corner. I sent redbenjoe link to auction he said he had NEVER SEEN ONE and must be very rare.   The PM-01 FM tuner radio pack from Walkman works perfectly in the PM-06.

Sound wise I am SHOCKED at the quality of sound from such a small box. Certainly there is no thumping bass but at volume under 4 with bass pushed way up the clarity of a full range greats your ears with very detailed voice, mids and almost crisp highs. What ever speaker is in those little boxes and after all these years Bravo to AKAI for quality done right even in small boomer. As for getting loud the radio is noticeably louder than tape and on radio I would match this with any of my mini boomer ( have 4) but you have to back off bass above 5 yet as you will see in video level 5 volume is already getting pretty loud to be sure. Yeah am LOVING this little baby it is just too cool and unique.

I so agree.  Yes sometimes you need that huge big BBX to BOOM far and wide Loud and Proud but really most of time volume level is not set loud and carrying those 25 to 35 pound bbx's around well give me a really great quality sounding mini and VIOLA... excellent sound a low to mid volume and super easy to transport.  OH and did I mention they dont eat up batteries like the big boys!  And some of these mini's can get amazingly loud and if you have TWO bingo.... still a lot less to carry than the big ben so to speak. MINI'S are COOL    And not to mention much easier on wallet to buy.

Not many boomers can do classical any justice but my Hitachi TRK-6700 produces a surprising clarity and sound except for the really lower frequency's.

ao - 2012-11-30 22:37

It ain't pretty but you find me another

What did you do? Plug it in to the primary side of the pole pig transformer outside, don't think that box took well to 7.2kv?
