sounds good stuff Claret, i might have to youtube it and see what it's like.

i never even heard much electro until lately and it's really grown on me, always loved house

lav - its pretty much the album that brought about the "sample" laws

it's an exercise in how to use samples with finesse - and style

it's even slicker than 3 ft high and rising - and that LP is KILLER

so these guys was pioneers then, shame i missed out 1st time round.

is the 3 feet high and rising album de la soul

claret.badger - 2012-12-04 23:46

wouldn't say pioneer - more the zenith

The guys responsible for production already had most of the tunes ready (and where to be release merely as instrumentals) but the Beasties insisted they spit over them

Producers were the Dust Brothers - the US ones not the Chemical Brothers

They are just lavish soundscapes - and sound fresh today

3ft High was De La Soul - yes

Prince Paul was their producer for that LP - ex Stetsasonic

If you haven't already check out Public Enemy's 2nd and 3rd LP's - as these are just aural assaults of samples - with intelligent rhyming

and honourable mention to Eric B & Rakims 1st two records

Hip hop 89-91 was THE golden age of sampling
