when playing ipod mp3 or any other digital source through a box which is analogue, what sound is coming from the box, analogue or digital?

No. As it stands now, FM radio will be off the air after 2020. So radio signals can't be received on a older radio without a adapter for digital radio (Will there ever be portable ones?)

if Fm radio will be gone in 2020....i guess you can still use the fm band with a FM transmitter..to play sound

Hi lav,good question,guess it depend's on your prefrence choice ,analog perfect for the straight up boombox audio buff,the digital part of audio would be for the more higher quality boombox's like JVC pc-55 etc, or the advancement's in home theatre and car audio with the boomin sub's etc....we just gotta mix up the tecnology with yesteryear and today's and hopefully FM never change's...remind's me of Queen Radio Ga ga radio someone still love's ' U'         PIONEER

As far as I know, the signal will not be switched off till we have more than 50% take up of digital radio. I am hoping it never happens.

FM is an excellent source with a decent tuner - very overlooked IMHO
