glen - 2012-12-30 23:10

Hey does anybody remember the 80s Electro track Rockit by Herbie Hancock? just imagine that Booming out of an Aiwa CS880, we used to use that track a lot around the early eighties for Boombox challenges. Uhhh those were the days, sweet youth.. lol

The song from the album 'Future Shock' has says it all. Even today after 30 years, this hip hop electro tune still can kick assess on today's music..Don't forget to try Axel F by Harold Faltermeyer and world's first sampling technic of "Nineteen-Vietnam" by Paul Hardcastle. Your Aiwa will missed these great tune of the 80's..

very true mate, all the best to you too for 2013 and hang tight on that 880 your after it will come sooner or later

if you don't already own any boxes Glen i would suggest picking up one or two to mess with while waiting on the 880

glen - 2012-12-31 02:53

Well Lav Loo the only 2 boxes i would consider away from the CS-880 would be the SANYO-MCD-850 or the JVC PC-550, see below. As u can see the JVC came in two colours. they are both louder than the AIWA but they don't deliver that awesome B-line that only the Aiwa CS-880 has @ its disposal.

gotta agree on the jvc mate loadsa power there but i gotta give you the heads up on the philips d8614 from 1982.

it's an awesome sounding box and you can grab them quiet cheap on epay mate, i would recommend this box to anyone, has all the whistles and bells and the all important line in. here's a pic below, probably the best sounding mid size box out there

I have those on original US vinyl and listen to them often.
You can't beat a JVC DC7 with an old school electro vinyl blasting...

glen - 2012-12-31 03:38

TBH with u i never heard of that particular machine before, but if u say it has a decent sound then who am i to question it. but i think i would have another machine in mind & that would be this

Although I didnt quite catch the 80's

I would add at this beautiful thread with some of the nicest tunes

the tracks below !!

Art of Noise (years ahead of their time and an incredible video of London in the year 1984)

a time when true music was created

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q5UdiTOi4s

A video of the AON with Max Headroom which i guess most Brits in here know!

Also ahead of its time!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEPq0FvFm3g

And last this clip which by the way the sample of "Hey" was used by the Prodigy

for their single ''Firestarter''
