And I thought it would be junk

I scored this one for it's looks alone. I saw these years ago under the dime-store brands Yorx and GPX, so I wasn't expecting much out of it at all. I just thought it would look cool up on the shelf or whatever. Much to my surprise this thing actuly rocks. Surprisingly killer bass response, nice crisp highs, and very little distortion. Who knew?

The tape decks run at the correct speed. FM reception is quite good. I'd even say a bit better than average. The dial is a bit off, I'm thinking do to age, but a simple adjustment will bring it back on track. The AM band is alright. I'd say about average. It's no DX machine but it does the job as well as any run of the mill radio does, so I can't complain.

It also has one thing I wish more boxes had. A real pull up and out antenna. Why practically everyone decided to go with what I call an "impotence" antenna is beyond me. I've always disliked those swivel kind that don't go into the case. This one is the best of both world. It'll pull straight up and stay put or you can pull it all the way out and swivel it around if you'd like to. There should have been a lot more of these types of antennas on boxes.

Nice mini review there, and the box looks well made...is that a 2nd tape deck - automotive style - lurking on the bottom?

Yes, it's a slide in with nothing more than a FF/eject button sticking out.

BTW I recognize your avatar. Check this out:

Nice Review

Thank you.

Cool. Yours still has the sticker on the tape deck door.

I notice something a little different on yours too; It has a red

studio 2 over the bottom deck.

This is a fantastic box and in great condition. Do you know of any other boxes (except the Conion) that have this double cassette configuration?
